He had a thriving WMD-program before Desert Storm. Then he didn't. In fact, Operation Desert Fox can now later be seen as very successfull as it destroyed the last remnants of that program. What is then extremely ironic, that afterwards Saddam Hussein didn't have anything, but bragged to his people that he had.Montegriffo wrote:To be fair Sadam certainly did have WMD's. Not only does France have the receipts from selling chemical weapons to him there is plenty of evidence that he used them on Iran and the Kurdish population within Iraq. The fact that he'd used them all up or hid them so well that no one can find them is not evidence that he didn't have any.

It wasn't claimed that he had used gas in the past. Nice try.
The claim from the CIA and all other IC agencies was that he had a fully fledged WMD industry, which was a fucking lie. Just like the one you're trying to pedal.
The use of chemical weapons during the Al Anfal campaign (and against Iranian forces) is an undisputed historical fact. Or are you implying that Saddam Hussein didn't use chemical weapons in the war against Iran? Lol.
The attack on the kurdish town of Halabja is well known, but the use against Iranians is usually forgotten. The use Chemical Weapons was a norm and option to the use them was given to lower army commanders than Hussein.
During the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq conflict, Iraqi forces pummeled Iranians with some of the world’s deadliest chemical agents. The onslaught killed nearly 5,000 Iranians and sickened more than 100,000. Today, roughly 56,000 surviving victims still cope with lingering effects from mustard gas alone, including skin lesions, failing corneas, chronic obstructive lung disease, and possibly cancer.

Didn't old Dan Carlin also talk about them? And didn't Obama go after whistleblowers with the FISA courts and espionage. I remember so.
(And do btw remember that it was first the Republicans that contacted Fusion GPS to get the dirt on Trump.)

Yes and no. Not on the Russian tip nor was Steele involved. I would say that is more of a lie then that it is the truth.ssu wrote:I think also that secret courts are a lousy thing too.C-Mag wrote:Listen guy, I'm passionate about this issue, not because of Trump, but because it's about spying on ME.

Also, technically I should point out that France only sold him the chemical components of their refining waste that are necessary to make Sarin. But he probably made Sarin.
Also, I doubt he would have the balls to gas Iranians. Maybe Shiite of Iranian descent and Kurds.
In all, American troops secretly reported finding roughly 5,000 chemical warheads, shells or aviation bombs, according to interviews with dozens of participants, Iraqi and American officials, and heavily redacted intelligence documents obtained under the Freedom of Information Act.

Everyone can see how desperate you lot are to suck IC cock with this revisionism.
We didn't invade Iraq because the IC claimed Saddam used wmds in the past.
We didn't invade because the IC claimed he might still have some lying around.
We invaded because the heads of every agency in the IC told the president and congress that Saddam had a fully fledged WMD industry, pumping out new weapons.
Now lie some more.

Yep, this used to be Dan Carlin's bread and butter. It's kind of annoying for me, now that he has the big audience, he's not talking about these issues. Dan used to talk about this crap ad nauseam, but there was only a dozen of us in the room. Anyway, not going down the rabbit hole again.ssu wrote:I think also that secret courts are a lousy thing too.C-Mag wrote:Listen guy, I'm passionate about this issue, not because of Trump, but because it's about spying on ME.

Here's the crazy thing, this shit was used against Trump and HE REAUTHORIZED THE PROGRAM. He did role back the unmasking changes Obama did at the 11th hour to go after Trump. Honestly, I don't understand how the unmasking really impacts stuff. I get that the intel gathered and passed around usually doesn't have names attached, and unmasking puts those names in there............ but what good does it do other than start rumors? Anyone know ?

Here's another layer to this mess
British libel case against Christopher Steele, author of the anti-Trump dossier. He’s being sued by a Russian businessman whom Steele claimed hacked the US Democratic Party.

Nothing there isn't false. Saddam Hussein had a WMD Project, and then he hadn't after two military operations.
And then the White House came up with the idea he had when preparing for a new war. CIA director
then decided to be a "team player".
