Constitutionally, we couldn't discriminate on the basis of age, so long as they could meet the standard, there was no age limit.clubgop wrote:Well we don't take 40 year olds. Tell you what, this old Vietnamese guy, he was probably a 130lbs, but man he could out hump the kids easy, battleschool to him was a cake walk, he was dumb, like he had language/cultural issues, but he was hard as shoe leather, he just laughed at anything we threw at him, except being called Victor Charles, that he was the only thing that got to him.
In the end, that's what brought him down, he just couldn't fit in, he didn't gel with anybody, culturally, so eventually he got frustrated and quit. There was a lot of hazing back then, everybody teased and picked on everybody else, he couldn't handle it, he took it to heart and then he started flipping out.

There was another guy who I think was 40, but he was this white guy Canadian, he had no fuckin' clue what he was getting himself into, he acted like it was office job or something, he was fuckin' useless as tits on a slug, a total fuck up, soft as butter, but he had an attitude, so we fuckin terrorized him.
Funny thing was, after he failed, which was pretty early on, turns out he's a paralegal, so he shows back up, and serves us papers, he's suing us, he hands the paper over the Sergeant-Major, "see you in court!" LOL!

That guy was so much fun, he lipped the Sergeant-Major off like he was a janitor or something, Sar'Major went ballistic, gave us the green light to take the gloves off, I'd never gotten the green light like that before, because nobody had ever lipped a Sar'Major off before, and a Sar'Major is pretty much untouchable, he can do whatever he wants, we went at the guy full bore, but that wasn't enough for the Sar'Major, he wanted this guy to pay dearly, it was open season, we were on rotation 24 hours a day, with one of us assigned to making this guy's life a living hell at all times.
Oh it was nonsense, the Sar'Major crumpled it up in his face, and we all just started laughing, but honestly, by that time, the guy was half crazed, we terrorized him so brutally, I don't think he was thinking straight anymore, he was a babbling idiot by that point.clubgop wrote:Sues who? Double timing him at all times, he had to double everywhere, and I mean everywhere, with one of us chasing him all the way, one inspection after the next, tear it all down, throw all his shit out the window of the barracks, then make him do it all again, pack drill in the blazing sun, breaking rocks, digging trenches, carrying gerry cans in both hands for hours on end, obstacle course marathons, two minutes to eat, two minutes to go to the latrine, five minutes to shower and shave, two hours to sleep, pack it, unpack it, on the bus, off the bus, up, down, over there, come back here, do this, do that, everything at maximum speed with the dogs on him, all day, all night, just him, and us, shit like that, he didn't get one second to himself, we were just going round the clock, we took six hour shifts, four shifts a day, non stop until he quit.Like what? I want details.
He actually quit on day two, but the Sar'Major wasn't letting him get away that easy, two weeks to "process the paper work", like we wanted rid of him, but Sar'Major was going to get his pound of flesh, the guy was literally blubbering, crying his eyes out after awhile, but Sar'Major said if we showed him mercy, we would take his place, so no mercy for him.
He really picked the wrong guy to chew off to, like he had no idea how it worked, he had no idea what he was calling down upon him, old school 2 Commando Airborne Regiment Master Warrant, they're cruel and unusual at the best of times, and they don't give a shit about the rules, they control their world, and nobody would inquire about it, unless they killed somebody, and even then, they could probably get away with that too back then.
Funny thing is, the guy could have just sat down and refused to do anything, and there's not much we could have done about it if he was resolute, but he wasn't resolute, he was weak minded, so it just never occurred to him, so he just kept going, like a zombie, it was psychological warfare and we were inside his head.
You know how it is, civilians don't really understand what it's like to be isolated in that world disconnected from everything they know, they think they could handle it, but it's different once your inside the box with no control. We just kept telling him, this is probably your last day, a few more hours and you're free, but then the next day would start when the shift turned over, kafkaeque, like a gulag.
That's the true pain of it, it's not the monotonous hard labour, it's the mindfuck, you just let them recover enough so they are ready to be broken down again, you just give them enough hope, so that they can be psychologically crushed again.

Tell you what tho; one hell of an exercise program, that guy was pretty chubby when he showed up, and he was much leaner when he left, I mean, he was twitching and talking to himself, be he looked like he was in much better shape.

So how many did he kill when he went on to be a mass shooter/serial killer?
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.
