As long as production > consumption, there is always enough money, simply “print” it. If you claim we are disincentivizing production, okay, that’s bad.

That's a slippery condition to catch, unless you're for total economic nationalism - banning foreign trade etc.

Production generally matches consumption anyway, which is why we tend to use GDP as a metric. Supply demand. Sure you'll get excess production here and there but it's not a systematic trend. Any excess is usually timing or risk related. Production is consumption just as savings is investment. Just depends where you want to draw the borders.

Which is why aggregates are over-used in economic theory imo. Hayek always made more sense to me. It matters more **what** you're actually producing. Yea, the republican calender thing is pretty stupid because it assumes total liquidation, but it's not far from the truth either. Once one starts using government to seize/nationalise/distribute capital or whatever method chosen, you risk messing with price signals at your peril.

It's not entirely about disincentives either. A company may be worth a lot due largely to the talent of it's rich private owners. That happens on the level of share ownership too - short bad companies, long good ones. If you eat the owners, there's no guarantee that what was good will stay good.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that meritocracy is good, reward the best more than the rest. How we get something that perfectly mirrors meritocracy is admittedly a more difficult and nuanced problem though.
