As opposed to a perpetual state of paranoia? The whole free press being essential to a democracy thing doesn't quite click for some of you. It is seriously crazy to think there's a vast conspiracy in journalism. Market forces and occasionally political forces may be at play but the rest is "they're out to get us" nonsense.

Like he uhhh, had this transition team and so on, he picked the guys who he wanted to work with (Pompayo, Dan Coats)... and can fire those he doesn't like.

So if your President doesn't trust American intelligence services then what, he asks Bibi for Mossad assistance? The Russians would likely gladly help too. Or uh, perhaps not this time.

Maybe... but what does he think congress can do that he can't, and why would he expect that den of swamp loving vipers to work honestly to reveal the truth?

He does have the authority to declassify information. If he strikes upon a room of left over Obama appointees shredding documents he asked for, more's the better for proving his case. As it is, it looks like a bunch of blustery bullshit to anyone who doesn't assume everything @worldsgreatestbrainedpotus tweets is 100% the best information based on the best sources.

The more interesting thing to me, at least, is if the intel. community actually sent back a request for a tap asking for more restrained parameters for a warrant, that strikes me as evidence that the intel. community wanted to be godamn sure that they weren't being partisan, since they, according to the article, almost never reject applications.
