Re: 2020 election
The DNC already has their allies in the press snuffing Tulsi out. You mark my words, she's going to get on stage in those debates and they are going ask her,
"Why are you a Homophobe, and would you imprison Gays as POTUS"

Trump is skilled enough to beat non-political robots with unpalatable policy positions. Assuming Trump can only beat political robots is under-estimating Donald Trump.DrYouth wrote: ↑Sat May 25, 2019 3:29 pmTrump won't win against Tulsi... because she's not a political robot.
He would have won against her if she had challenged him in 2016 because people didn't know that he was full of shit back then.
He appeared genuine and believable.
But in 2020 people know he's a compulsive liar.
So it won't work again... unless the Dems run a robot-politician against him. Which they very well might.
Tulsi is genuine and believable... and is likely not a compulsive liar.
She would have a good chance against him in 2020... because she has appeal on the right.
I doubt Biden does. Although I actually know very little about Biden.
Incumbent POTUS has an advantage, not a disadvantage, people haven't turned on him for being a compulsive liar, again you are projecting the political opinions of this forum on the American electorate, which leads to poor analysis.
Tulsi sucks at telling popular lies, but Trump is great at that, Tulsi tells unpopular truths, Trump tells popular truths. Trump smash, Gabbard is a lightweight whose policy positions you like, that doesn't win elections.
Political weather vanes that tell people what they want to hear, is what wins elections. Being a compulsive liar is a good thing, if you are good at lying, being a liar doesn't hurt you, being a bad liar does.
Clinton didn't lose because she was too much of a liar, she lost because Trump was a better liar than her, who told his lies in more palatable ways. Clinton lost because she told too many unpopular truths and wasn't as good at telling popular truths, while Trump was better at selling the truth than she was.
The takeaway should not be, if Trump isn't facing Clinton or Bush, but another political outsider who seems genuine, he'll lose because being the genuine outsider is why he won, because that political outsider would have to be a better liar and better at selling the truth than Trump, in order to pull that off. Gabbard and Yang can't pull that off, sorry to burst your bubble, but skill at lying and selling the truth are the key, not the criteria you judge candidates on.

If you think the electorate can see through lies that they like to hear, or won't see unpopular truths as lies, you give the electorate way too much credit. Telling the people what they want to hear, whether it be a lie or the truth, is what leads the American electorate to think you are genuine, or as close to genuine as a politician can get.
Salesmanship wins, Gabbard and Yang can't outsell Donald Trump, don't be silly. You might see them as more genuine than Trump, but most Americans won't, because Trump is better at blowing sunshine up their asses, than Gabbard or Yang can ever dream of being. They simply lack the salesmanship to compete with Incumbent POTUS Trump.

So in your estimation is there any candidate on the left that stands a chance against Trump?

Tulsi could win if she can get through the nomination, but she doesn't talk enough shit to win in that kind of primary (yet). She's an Army major, so I am holding out hope she will find her inner shitlord soon.

No. Biden has the best chance, but if you are going to lose, might as well just go McGovern, tank, and come back in 2024, instead of picking Biden, potentially blaming the outcome on not going far-left enough due to a misreading of why Trump won in 2016 and 2020, and then losing in 2024 as well because of that misreading of the electorate.

If that inner shitlord exists, best bring it out ASAP, I really don't think she has it in her, and if she does, she probably isn't that good of a shitlord and won't be able to compete like she needs to. Trying to out shitlord Trump is futile, good luck with that.Speaker to Animals wrote: ↑Sat May 25, 2019 4:33 pmTulsi could win if she can get through the nomination, but she doesn't talk enough shit to win in that kind of primary (yet).
