Re: THE ERA OF TRUMP
We find ourselves in a great position. We currently have 25% of the total wealth in the world. How we spend that money will determine the future of our nation.
Investing that wealth in a foreign nations infrastructure, work force, and overall well being doesn't seem to be the best idea unless the additional wealth generated for the companies who export jobs to increase their profitability trickles down to the working class.

That's what free trade is dependent on.
The wealth gained by the upper class via cost savings enable our society as a whole to more than make up for the lost jobs.
That doesn't have to be a monthly dividend check (welfare) or a increase in overall income per se. There are a multitude of ways society can benefit from a shifting economy.
One unforeseen benefit for the US shifting away from a mfg economy may be that it puts us on the path to a post-robotic takeover economy before our competitors.
Most agree that automation will only increase in capability and affordability so by the US learning to exist without mfg jobs now, may prepare us for a future that all nations will have to adapt to.
Imagine China when robots become more affordable and capable than 100 Chinese workers.
Supposedly this automation is unavoidable. better to adjust now than later...???

Listening to NPR talk about the impending repeal of the ACA was like hearing news that a rogue planet was closing in for impact.

They're not there yet. They're telling each other to be steady and stick together.Speaker to Animals wrote:Okeefenokee wrote:Listening to NPR talk about the impending repeal of the ACA was like hearing news that a rogue planet was closing in for impact.

That's brilliant. If the SJWs make a stink, their sales will go up. Bet that.

Smug Wendy is great. It's too bad that twitter mobs are "why we can't have nice things", like the article ironically opens.
