What would be better now than to attack the evil Houthis?Mr. Trump made perfunctory references to Yemen on his trip, but mostly to praise the Saudi war effort and condemn Iran for supporting militant groups. He could be using the leverage he has with his new Saudi friends to push for a resolution to the fighting. After all, Saudi Arabia and its gulf allies depend heavily on Washington for aircraft, munitions, training and in-flight refueling. The United States also helps Saudi Arabia guard its borders.
Mr. Trump’s failure to apply pressure, combined with the giant arms sale, is raising fears that he may give the Saudis a green light to escalate the fighting, as well as find other ways to beef up America’s own support for Riyadh.

Interesting to see if Trump will increase US operations in Yemen to help the Saudi coalition.

Actually, you have been in Yemen since the War on Terror started and thus it was a "frontline" on the War on Terror. Yemen has been one of the countries were the US has a long history of drone strikes, tomahawk strikes and SOF operations.TheReal_ND wrote:We've had special forces there helping SA for a while.
Now btw in the fight against the evil Houthi's Al Qaeda is your ally.

Oh I refer to Trump there. Remember Trump called them the terrorist (just like Hezbollah). You do want see everything in terms of good and evil, right? Black and white.TheReal_ND wrote:Why do you keep calling them evil? Red pill me on why I'm not supposed to like them.
Of course, the actual thing is that's it's huge complex issue of Yemeni internal politics where the Houthi's have been just one minority group that has been used and abused at one time and the other (last time by the ex-president). But once Iran allegedly got there to support them, then it came to be a geopolitical battle between Saudi-Arabia and Iran. What basically Saudi-Arabia is fearing that they become something like Hezbollah is in Lebanon.
In reality there is huge catastrophy happening in Yemen, which has collapsed as a country like Somalia. But who cares when it's about fighting against Iran.

The point ssu is making, is that in this limited scenario, we're fighting Shia extremists with the backing of the top Sunni nation.TheReal_ND wrote:Huh. Don't remember Drumpf saying that. One thing is for sure, there is a huge media black out in Yemen.

Re: Meanwhile in Iraq & Syria
Let me then remind you what your President says about the Houthis in Saudi-Arabia:TheReal_ND wrote:Huh. Don't remember Drumpf saying that. One thing is for sure, there is a huge media black out in Yemen.
See White House transcript of President Trump's speechThe first task in this joint effort is for your nations to deny all territory to the foot soldiers of evil. Every country in the region has an absolute duty to ensure that terrorists find no sanctuary on their soil.
Many are already making significant contributions to regional security: Jordanian pilots are crucial partners against ISIS in Syria and Iraq. Saudi Arabia and a regional coalition have taken strong action against Houthi militants in Yemen.
So there is Drumpf saying basically that Houthi militants are "the foot soldiers of evil".
Hence for Trump the Houthis are evil.
And later about Iran, the ally of the Houthis:
From Lebanon to Iraq to Yemen, Iran funds, arms, and trains terrorists, militias, and other extremist groups that spread destruction and chaos across the region. For decades, Iran has fueled the fires of sectarian conflict and terror. It is a government that speaks openly of mass murder, vowing the destruction of Israel, death to America, and ruin for many leaders and nations in this room.
Case closed.
