they had every advantage in the world, while we had to raise ourselves
This explains why Gen X is so desperate for approval, and why they invented victimhood culture and Critical Theory - not enough hugs.
Also, why it is the generation that put an album that was unironically titled 'Melancholy and the Infinite Sadness' to the top of the charts.
Indeed, as I say, Millennial culture is just our culture on steroids
but we got to enjoy it, for us it was a boon, and we got everything we ever wanted just by being ourselves
then the empire collapsed in 2008, so the Millennials missed the bus, they are out in the cold
so we are not bitter, we are not melancholy now, because we made it to the promised land, just under the wire
at this point we Gen Xers are moving on to the next phase, confronting our mortality
all I say to Millennials is that this middle aged phase came up fast, whoosh, just like that
one moment I was Ferris Bueller pulling my wife to be into a romantic kiss at the pub while the bar cheered
then twenty years went by in a flash
the early part of your life moves much slower
once you get into your thirties the pace picks up
so all this angst about saving the world from itself ?
that is in fact wasting time which you don't actually have
we Gen Xers have been warning you about what the future was like since you were babies
but you just don't listen, and we can't save your from yourselves, we don't have that delusion
