Who on earth commissioned an ostensibly pro-freedom statue of a retarded William Wallace?
In 1996 Tom Church, a monumental mason from Brechin, was inspired by the 1995 Mel Gibson film Braveheart while recovering from a heart bypass operation. He carved a 4-metre (13 ft) tall, 12 metric tonne statue of Wallace from two blocks of sandstone. The statue resembles Gibson's depiction of Wallace, featuring a targe emblazoned with "Braveheart", a military flail, and a claymore. Calling the statue Freedom, he leased it to Stirling Council, who in 1997 installed it in the car park of the visitor centre at the foot of the craig.
There it proved to be controversial; The Independent described it as "among the most loathed pieces of public art in Scotland" and one local called it a "lump of crap", but the statue remains popular with tourists.
"among the most loathed pieces of public art in Scotland" is officially one of my favorite phrases ever.
Also: the horse stays. Don't touch the nightmare horse.

Sad to see the history and culture of our great country being ripped apart with the removal of our beautiful statues and monuments. You.....
..can't change history, but you can learn from it. Robert E Lee, Stonewall Jackson - who's next, Washington, Jefferson? So foolish! Also...
..the beauty that is being taken out of our cities, towns and parks will be greatly missed and never able to be comparably replaced!

They tried to get rid of it by gifting it to Trump for one of his golf courses or hotels but he declined.

Keep it up, lefties. You're winning! Rename everything. Try to erase history. People are loving it.

I hope they organize a litter patrol to clean up all these red pills they left laying around everywhere.
