FDR might do something, but not Trump, Trump's a big phony, he says one thing, but then basically does what Bush did. /shrugs.Martin Hash wrote:Dude, you know what I’m saying is the kind of thinking that end-runs traditional political roadblocks. Maybe? He’s certainly no FDR but I see flashes of brilliance. I’m pretty sure The Wall is coming.

And really, these 'Caravans of the Saints," are nothing new. They have been going on for decades. Bush sent several thousand NatGaurd to help secure reinforce the Border Guard against this very thing at one point. They happen yearly in fact. The only difference this time is that the left got ahead of itself and instead of ignoring it like usual, they decided to show off their pets in the media along with the requisite commie rhetoric, because it's Trump. It seems they can't help themselves really. They have no idea how bad this plays to normal Americans or they just have TDR really bad.

Tax cuts, deregulation, steel tariffs, Nat Guard dog n' pony show, put a fence on the border, double down in Syria, John Bolton, etcetera, flashes of brilliance straight out of the Bushy playbook. /shrugs

Hey I like the tarrifs. It's no secret that an unregulated market leads to lower wages. Even the most purely hypothetical Austrian economic philosophies willingly admit that. But what's this about doubling down in Syria? I seem to be out of the loop

Last I read (this week) he wanted out of Syria. Israel wants us in Syria and they float lots of Fake News.

Whatevs, I got no beef with Bush, I like Bush, I don't think you're going to stop many Mexicans from crossing the border by sending the Nat Guard to stand around in the desert, but I'm all for sticking it to the lefties, so knock yourselves out.TheReal_ND wrote:And really, these 'Caravans of the Saints," are nothing new. Speaking of tariffs, in response to Trump's tariffs on Chinese steel China is putting tariffs on US agriculture.

China has no idea how to deal with people putting tariffs on them. It's never happened to them before. As a country that imports little other than luxury goods that the middle class and elite demand, there isn't really much they can tariff. If just tariffing aluminum has them reacting in such a stupid way, imagine what tariffing electronics would do.
Since China's businesses are all an extension of the government, tariffs take money directly out of the communist party. There hasn't been one other president in recent history that deals with Chinese businesses keeping in mind that they are an extension of China's government. This was probably the best thing the Trump administration has done so far, and I'd be thrilled if he keeps doing it.

That's not true, the US has had a whole slew of special tariffs imposed on the Chinese for years now, imposed by congress.TheReal_ND wrote:

It's like the steel tariffs Trump is imposing; the Chinese only account for 2% of the steel imported into the US now, mostly because of tariffs already imposed on them years ago, the big steel tariffs have already been imposed and already pushed the Chinese to pursue other markets for their steel.
