I've blocked Turin out of my memory, who won that, the Swedes?StCapps wrote:4 in gold medals in a row was a good run, can't win em' all. It's not like it's the men, we better win them all, in that case. Turin still haunts us.

Exactly, don't care unless it's best on best, the women winning only really matters if it's paired with that best on best men's win.Smitty-48 wrote:No best on best NHL players; meh.StCapps wrote:Couldn't steal it, oh well, Yanks deserved it.

Yeah, the Swedes beat the Finns, Czechs got bronze. Nagano guts me, Lillehammer don't bother me because we lost in a shootout to Foppa Forsberg, and I don't remember it that well because I was only 5 years old.Smitty-48 wrote:I've blocked Turin out of my memory, who won that, the Swedes?StCapps wrote:4 in gold medals in a row was a good run, can't win em' all. I have no memory of it, I don't even remember who played for Canada, was Brodeur in net, or somebody else?StCapps wrote:Yeah, the Swedes beat the Finns, Czechs got bronze.Smitty-48 wrote:I've blocked Turin out of my memory, who won that, the Swedes?StCapps wrote:4 in gold medals in a row was a good run, can't win em' all. Yeah Brodeur. We were slow as shit, picking a bunch of old veterans who didn't play well on the big ice. Nagano burns the worst, of course, Hasek out-dueling Roy was soul crushing. The only thing that salvaged it any way was that I got to get up and watch the game at 1:30 am on a school night, but still.Smitty-48 wrote:I have no memory of it, I don't even remember who played for Canada, was Brodeur in net, or somebody else?StCapps wrote:Yeah, the Swedes beat the Finns, Czechs got bronze.Smitty-48 wrote:

Nagano definitely gutted me, altho I hate the narrative about "not putting Gretzky in", as if Wayne was ever the master of the shootout, which he was not, and Hasek was in the zone, Wayne wouldn't have made any difference at that age, maybe when he was young, but at that age he had been reduced to a shifty playmaker, he wasn't the Wayne of yore.
But Turin? I honestly feel nothing.

The saving grace there is that we didn't get far enough to get really invested, but losing to the Russians in quarterfinals fucking sucked.Smitty-48 wrote:Nagano definitely gutted me, altho I hate the narrative about "not putting Gretzky in", as if Wayne was ever the master of the shootout, which he was not, and Hasek was in the zone, Wayne wouldn't have made any difference at that age, maybe when he was young, but at that age he had been reduced to a shifty playmaker, he wasn't the Wayne of yore.
