Loafs not phoning it in so far, but still up to their old tricks, the problem is not so much who is playing defence on this team, the problem is simply that all of them cough the puck up endlessly, no puck management on this team, so they spend most of the time trying to get the puck back, often hemmed into their own zone, they just hand the puck to the other team, way too easily, which, doesn't who you get to play defence, if you can't stop doing that.
They can go out and get Ryan McDonagh or whoever, but if they don't learn to manage the puck, won't make much difference, whoever they bring in will end up running around just as much. All defensive breakdowns start up the ice, with a turnover, mo turnovers, mo defensive breakdowns.

Mitchy Marner bailing them out, one thing about Matthews being down, is that Marner seems to play better when the spotlight is available, when Matty is in, they all defer to Matty, but when Matty is out, they all defer to Marns.

That was a new line combo by the way, Babs moved Marns into Brown's spot to make it Hyman-Nylander-Marner, ten seconds later, Willy to Marns, in the net.

Bambo. Seven seconds later, Marns to JVR to Kadri, in the net, off the draw on the PP. Who needs Matty? j/k

Canada doesn't recognize bronze medals in hockey, but Fake Team Canada doesn't count even if they win gold.clubgop wrote:Canada won the bronze in men's hockey. So take heart.Smitty-48 wrote:Canada is out, no Emma, no Rachel, no interest.
I've been rooting for the Russians from the beginning, still rooting for the Russians. Stick it to the IOC, Slava Rossiya.

Technically, Canada is having an excellent Jingolympics, second in gold medals, second in medals overall, ahead of the USA, but without NHL players, I honestly don't give a rats ass about the Olympics. Just there to win gold for the Real Team Canada, not Real Team Canada, not interested.
