Ice Hockey is the Winter Olympics, without the NHL players, I don't give a fuck. The Olympics are going to eat it for this ridiculous decision with no upside, ratings are going to be way down without the NHL stars there.

The NHL has done this before the owners are going to get greedy and lock the players out, again, and who will they run to for the PR? The Olympics! Players should have it written in their contracts that if they want to play maybe take a little discount on salary.
The NHL players make the Winter Olympics, fuck the IOC, pay the NHL. If they want way less eyeballs on the Olympics because they refuse, that's cutting off their nose to spite their face. The NHL might be greedy assholes, but the IOC still should have caved. The IOC certainly deserves more of the blame on this one.
No they don't. Don't you get it? As far the US goes they already have NBC's money any loss in viewership can made up among women and gays watching figure skating. Your PM is less of a hockey type and more of a figure skating type, anyway.

The way the NHLPA keeps shooting themselves in the ass, and wasting my fuckin' time with their stupidity, I am all in favour of the league breaking the union, lock them out and don't let them back until they cave on everything, I don't care how long it takes, the NHLPA are a buncha fuckin idiots, crush them once and for all time says I, the way to stop the lockouts, is to crush the union without quarter nor mercy.

Women and gays will not make up for the loss in viewership, the decision makes zero business sense whatsoever on the IOC's end, they hate money, they hate sports, they hate entertainment, but they sure love politics. The IOC loses more than the NHL does by the NHL players not going, by a long shot, bet that.

Fine by me. They'll play in every Olympics thereafter.

Want to know what winter Olympic sports are talked about the most by each country?

Most people even in Canada care most about figure skating.

Most watched winter Olympic sport worldwide in 2014? Ski jumping. Ice hockey only second.
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

They lose more money by not paying the NHL in the end and taking the ratings hit. The NHL deserves a bigger cut of the revenue, they bring in the ratings for the Winter Olympics and deserve to be compensated accordingly. Like I said, they hate money, they hate sports, and they hate entertainment, it's all about politics at the expense of everything else.

Look at the ratings bro. Figure skating takes your dudes with sticks presses them up against the board and eagerly, yet tenderly, gives them another stick to play with.
