Situations like this are supposed to bring out the best but often just does the opposite. Humans are just chimps with a thin layer of civilization. I get depressed by the totally predictable witch hunt. Why can’t we have good things?

I thought of that. A Go Pro constantly running and connected to a large enough memory card could work. You could theoretically put one on your back as well. Just use a vest with molle straps to do it.

But when I looked it up, sightings are pretty rare around here. There are only a few reported (one not far from here about nine years ago), but I suspect if true, these things stay pretty deep in the forest, and I am not sure I want to hike out that far.

I mean.. I hiked pretty deep into Pisgah National Forest when I first moved here, but I was on a major trail the whole time even though I was equipped like an asshole with a half-filled water bottle and some beef jerkey. It's pretty taxing climbing those mountains even on a path. I can't imagine doing it for real out on the wilderness area with no trail with just a GPS device or a map and compass.

People wonder why nobody takes pictures.. it's probably because almost nobody goes out in those areas.
