I got a better idea... let people choose what they want for services and call it a day.Speaker to Animals wrote:

I pay for Gigabit Ethernet, Netflix, Hulu, and HBO... so what's the issue...?

Dont bet on it. Supply Side has failed the middle class and created inequality for 40 years and is still considered gospel by the entire GOP.Speaker to Animals wrote:At least libertarianism as a political ideology will be forever dead after that. People will see just how fucking retarded it truly is.
Has no one else noticed that internet service is the only Tech sector where Moore's Law works in reverse? 20 years ago you could get dial-up service for $15 a month, time should have made it both cheaper and faster, but it's just faster and five times the price. There's no real competition and killing Net Neutrality will make it even worse.
I can get Comcast or FiOS and both of them will cost me exactly the same amount for basically the same service. This Duopoly will spend millions on advertising but not ever compete on price. Give them the ability to pick and choose the winners and losers of the entire internet and they are going to rape and pillage us. Picture being charged more to Skype with your kid than to browse Walmart and take it from there.
We are only accustomed to dealing with like twenty online personas at a time so when we only have about ten people some people have to be strawmanned in order to advance our same relative go nowhere nonsense positions. -TheReal_ND

Re: Net Neutrality
What is a viable argument against Net Neutrality? What is so onerous about the internet being the way it is now, aside from ISPs making less money? Why fix what isn't broken? These fucks are gonna keep ramming this bill until it passes.

The bill is full of sneaky terms like "valid content". That's the thing that's freaking most people out. Who will determine what is "valid content"? The government? Next thing you know you won't be allowed to send an email containing shit, piss, fuck, cunt, cocksucker, motherfucker or tits.
What about bit torrent? Will that be considered valid? Why is this even a question? Because they will make it one given half a chance. Only Facebook, Google and verified Twitter accounts will be valid content when they are done.

They already are. if you look at the site hosting debacle or adpocalyse on Youtube. We already are there about "valid content" might as well get the network innovations we need and were not going to get them with the tragedy of the commons.Hastur wrote:The bill is full of sneaky terms like "valid content". Re: Net Neutrality
This is why we need government to stay out of things like this, the only reason they need to get involved is if there is a monopoly.
The reason this is more of a problem than it should be is companies like Verizon and Comcast tricked the towns and cities to take over ownership of the lines.
The reason we see this net neutrality become a problem now is that the mega-companies squash competition.

It is a monopoly you retard. Every community has a single broadband connection (cable) and then a few shit services like DSL. You don't get to choose between broadband providers.
Then the actual internet backbone is run by only a few companies who control most of the TCP/IP traffic in the United States. They want to get into the toll business too.
