Re: North Korea News
The North won't last more than a month - Their military will be decimated in a few days....then the surviving loyalists will die from starvation....they can barely feed themselves now...unfortunately, Soeul will sustain heavy damage....

As per usual, America would go in overconfident, predicting total victory within days, and then find the war to be exponentially more difficult than expected, the enemy to be exponentially more tenacious than expected, inflicting exponentially more attrition on the Americans than expected. Par for the course.

Umm, we actually won the war, it was the Democrats that destroyed that loss. You forget your history...
Bare knuckle, bastard child edition of history:
Nixon said the only way the US would stop would be if NK goes to the Paris Peace Accords they left before... Originally NK said fungu to you, and the US obliterated the NK army, etc... the NK sued for peace, and went to the Paris Peace Accords. Nixon then promised SK a like for like replacement so bullet lost, the US would replace, guns, airplanes, etc...
Then 1974 happened, Nixon resigned, the Democrats got into power and nullified the agreement and let SK high and dry. The NK went back on their agreement, and attacked SK, and we are where we are today because of it.
If we went all guns into NK, the NK army would not have a chance.

China no longer buying Coal from NK...

I've heard rumors that instead they are looking to replace that coal with US coal instead... how true that is I don't know, but if it works out, Trump may just have kept one of his campaign promises.

This could be a huge win for him, if it plays out... Good news for coal miners and hospice workers too, what with all that black lung returning to the US.The Conservative wrote:China no longer buying Coal from NK...

Re: North Korea News
You seem to be confusing Korea and Vietnam, in the Korean War, Nixon was only Vice President, the President's were Truman and Eisenhower, but in both cases, Korea and then Vietnam, America went in overconfident and found out the hard way, Korea resulting in a stalemate, Vietnam resulting in fleeing the field, yet both were assumed to be a cake walk going in.The Conservative wrote:Smitty-48 wrote:As per usual, America would go in overconfident, predicting total victory within days, and then find the war to be exponentially more difficult than expected, the enemy to be exponentially more tenacious than expected, inflicting exponentially more attrition on the Americans than expected. Thing about Korea, even though it doesn't have the triple-canopy jungle of Vietnam, it's mountanous in the extreme, 70% mountains, and they are hardcore mountains, so it's a natural fortress, just by terrain, it's not like an Iraq where you can just overrun them with tanks, a Korean war is an infantry war, dismounted, on complex terrain, closer to Vietnam than it is to the ME, so mechanized and air power is significantly impeded.
In terms of the demographic terrain, it's probably true that you wouldn't be facing a peasant insurgency like the NLF/Viet Cong, but the peasants are not the regime, the regime loyalists, the military and the ruling class, they would likely fight to the last man, and in a mountain fortress, they could hold out for a long time.
And we're talking about Koreans, they're not like Arabs, they're more like the Vietnamese, in fact, the Koreans may be even more stubborn and intransigent than the Vietnamese, so I would expect them to dig in and fight, those who were married to the regime, I wouldn't expect them to go down easy, I'd bet that they'd go down swinging.
If they go down swinging, in a mountain fortress, wouldn't take that many of them, to make it a very tough nut to crack, and they are no doubt prepped for it, dug in deep up there, stockpiled for a siege.

Right, and if I remember correctly, Patton pretty much did the impossible there... and attacked and sacked the capitol...

Patton was killed in a vehicle accident in World War Two, the commanders in Korea were MacArthur and then Ridgeway, but it was MacArthur who went in overconfident, and then ended up being driven out of there with his tail between his legs.
