How many games to the Leafs have left to go?

3 games remain for the Loafs. The Bruins are a point ahead but only have 2 games left and the Sens are a point ahead with 3 games left. If the Leafs aren't at least 3rd in the Atlantic then they play the Caps.Fife wrote:https://www.nhl.com/gamecenter/nsh-vs-d ... te=previewSmitty-48 wrote: change channel, back to hockey, order pizza.

They've got three games to get two points to make the playoffs, which is doable, but the real issue is avoiding the wildcard and Washington in the first round, so really, if they want to get Boston or Ottawa, who the Leafs could actually beat in a 7 game series, they need more than just two points here, so if they beat T-Bay tonight, they've clinched, but if all they've clinched is a first round match up with the Caps; kind of a pyrric victory, not going to get too excited, unless and until they clinch and avoid the wildcard both.Fife wrote:https://www.nhl.com/gamecenter/nsh-vs-d ... te=previewSmitty-48 wrote: change channel, back to hockey, order pizza.

Might as well tank if you are going to draw the Caps. Pyrrhic victory indeed, that has the makings of a sweep, the Atlantic division team that is unfortunate enough to play the Caps is royally screwedSmitty-48 wrote:They've got three games to get two points to make the playoffs, which is doable, but the real issue is avoiding the wildcard and Washington in the first round, so really, if they want to get Boston or Ottawa, who the Leafs could actually beat in a 7 game series, they need more than just two points here, so if they beat T-Bay tonight, they've clinched, but if all they've clinched is a first round match up with the Caps; kind of a pyrric victory, not going to get too excited, unless and until they clinch and avoid the wildcard both.Fife wrote:https://www.nhl.com/gamecenter/nsh-vs-d ... te=previewSmitty-48 wrote: change channel, back to hockey, order pizza.

Meh, the Caps are actually vulnerable, if I was the Caps, I'd want no part of a "nothing to lose" team like the Leafs, the Caps are a choke team, all the pressure would be on them, if they started gripping the sticks, they could choke again, never underestimate the Caps capacity to blow themselves up, expecially against a loosey goosey team which wasn't feeling any pressure as the underdogs who everyone had written off.StCapps wrote:Might as well tank if you are going to draw the Caps. Meh, the Leafs have a punchers chance, but not a particularly good punchers chance. I mean if the Caps lost to the Leafs that would be one of the epic first round chokes of all time, would make the tsn top 10, sure anything can happen but I wouldn't get your hopes up.Smitty-48 wrote:Meh, the Caps are actually vulnerable, if I was the Caps, I'd want no part of a "nothing to lose" team like the Leafs, the Caps are a choke team, all the pressure would be on them, if they started gripping the sticks, they could choke again, never underestimate the Caps capacity to blow themselves up, expecially against a loosey goosey team which wasn't feeling any pressure as the underdogs who everyone had written off.
For Washington, first round is the most dangerous round, anything can happen in the first round, and often does.
