Yes everybody in real America does, it is what is talked about. What kind of liberal bubble do you live in? No big football fans don't care much but that is not what the league is geared towards it is not what the league caters too they have you, they take you for granted, they can do so much and you will take it. They need the casual audience the ones that want the patriotic displays they want women, they want the political junkies and race hustlers to talk about their league endlessly, they want it to be the water cooler league the sport everybody pays some attention to.
