The $$$ argument is a slam dunk for imports.
The quality argument is next to zero, if you buy decent imports.
The service argument is next to zero, as I will not bother to claim the warranty.
That's your fault then. I buy things to last, not to throw away.
So do I.

Doesn't mean I should over pay for sunglasses.

The last buggy whip driver in Pennsylvania went out of business, you can blame somebody else all you want, but you have to provide value to folks.

The idea that you can't get quality from an import is not true.

The idea that domestic sunglass producers would provide a benefit to my to community is next to zero.

Even if you expand my community to all of America, how many sun glass employees do you think that makes?

How much of that extra cost would my community ever see? And how much of that would just get sucked out for some CEO to spend in Dubai?

That is the point of ownership or controlling percentage of any company is being able to take advantage of that.

What you seem to be missing is that if the companies make things in the US, the region where they exist get the tax, people around the area get people to work for them, those people spend money regionally.

General concept is money will be put into the local economy, and in turn helps the region, the state, and everyone in general.

As a active small business owner, I'm fine letting the free market tell me whether or not I know what the fuck I am talking about.

You drink from your glass and me from mine.

And time will tell who's community is prosperous and who's is dead.

Well, as it stands now, neither, because we are outsourcing way too much. If we actually go to war against any country, and the world picks sides, and where we get our products from chooses the other side, we as a country as it stands now is fucked.

This is very true. And was a massive issue during past wars.

However, your economy has already been sold out from under you. There is no going back, no bill of sale, no return program. We couldn't stop now if we wanted to, so we'll stop when we have to. Please address complaints to:

There certainly is an angle that the Royal Navy must maintain timber production in case of a war with France.

That has nothing to do with sunglasses.

Oh, it's far, far worse than that. Our basic supplies beyond food would be completely cut off, in a trade war with China. Probably with a 10-20 year delay on getting everything back in stock. That's a long time to go without disposable sunglasses, let alone everything that modern life depends on.
