If he has no big ideas to talk about, the Internet is just going to talk about how horrible he is as a human being and look for corruption.
You need big ideas now.

You need catchy slogans now. Policy doesn't win elections, Marketing does. Policy only matters, in so much as you are able to market it. Wonkery is counter-productive, most voters don't care about fine policy details, they find it tedious.Speaker to Animals wrote: ↑Sun May 05, 2019 5:55 pmIf he has no big ideas to talk about, the Internet is just going to talk about how horrible he is as a human being and look for corruption.

You over-estimate the electorate's intellectual capacity and their attention span.
It's not about how weak Biden is, it's about how weak his competition is. All the candidates with "big ideas" as you call them, don't have the marketing ability to win the nomination, Bernie being the only exception who has a shot, so Biden doesn't have to worry about any of them but Bernie. Like I've been pointing out though, Bernie's strength is being vastly over-estimated by many on this forum.
If history is any indication Bernie is going to use kid gloves on Biden, and fail to exploit his biggest weaknesses for fear of giving Republicans a win. Bernie is a pushover.

It's funny, 3 years ago I would have agreed with you 100%, but the current president has proven you can brag about sexual assault, be well know to be con man, and still get elected. Now I agree with you about 70%. The Democrats are so into the circular firing squad that the only viable candidate will be a blank slate like Beto. AKA Obama part II. Still better than choosing between two 77 year old dudes. POTUS is a hard job, done properly take long hours and energy. One needs to actually listen to intelligence briefings, not get their data from Fox News. The Conservative wrote: ↑Sun May 05, 2019 5:49 pmBiden will get crushed by his own actions and words, we have decades of documentation

Beto too bland, too empty, not enough charisma, too awkward. His only chance is if Biden torpedoes himself, but even then, he's a longshot.

Could describe both Carter and GHWB. Weird things happens in elections. Biden WILL shoot himself in the foot, the question is will he be fed to sharks for it or are the Democrats hungry enough to let it go like the GOP was.

Re: 2020 election
Nah, again tunnel visioning on the weakness of a candidate who won, instead of focusing on their weaknesses relative to the competition, neither GHWB or Carter were that bland, empty, awkward or lacked charisma compared to their primary competition, Clinton and Reagan who made them look bland, empty, awkward and lacking in charisma.
Beto isn't Reagan, or Clinton, or Obama. Reagan, Clinton and Obama had flavorful personalities, were smooth and polished, and had tons of charisma. Beto is far more awkward, bland, empty and lacking charisma than Jimmy Carter or George HW Bush, and the competition he's running against while not formidable, still are less of those things than him. Biden is far less weak in this regard than Beto, same with Sanders.
Don't have to be Usain Bolt, just have to outrun the competition. Y'all need to stop grading politicians as if they are running against Usain Bolt type competition especially when the opposition is particularly weak.

The difference is that with Trump he didn't try to hide it. Biden is the Democrat's dirty little secret out in the open for everyone to see now. The Democrats are going to explain why they allowed Biden's actions to go on for so long without repercussions.brewster wrote: ↑Sun May 05, 2019 6:49 pmIt's funny, 3 years ago I would have agreed with you 100%, but the current president has proven you can brag about sexual assault, be well know to be con man, and still get elected. Well, Beto is riding that 2018 Senate win.....oh wait. Well, he does have his Latino heritage going for him.....uhhh, wait, no.
Privileged white guy who lost his last race. Not going to win the nomination. Remember, it's not who the primary voters choose that matters in the DNC, it's who the DNC elites choose.

Re: 2020 election
I doubt it can work this time. The democratic electorate is already in revolt from the DNC establishment.
DNC could also face criminal prosecution if they do some of those fraudulent things again, and no candidate I am aware of is in control of DNC finances like Hillary was in 2016. Furthermore, the one good thing Sanders did was get behind that push to diminish the power of democratic party "super delegates" in the aftermath of the 2016 debacle.
I really don't foresee the democratic electorate choosing another establishment candidate, and those clowns running on their identity is a mistake.
Identity politics is not really about the identity of the candidates themselves, but that the candidates acknowledge that there exist all these identity groups in America with their own often conflicting interests.
Running on who you are is fucking dumb at this point in history.

Yes, Trump is such a con man and so ignorant he managed to help get unemployment to historic lows. Yet, no one seems to know this because the media won't talk about it. Instead the focus is still on the Mueller investigation because the media dug themselves in so deep with that they can't see anything else.brewster wrote: ↑Sun May 05, 2019 6:49 pmIt's funny, 3 years ago I would have agreed with you 100%, but the current president has proven you can brag about sexual assault, be well know to be con man, and still get elected. The MSM is no longer in the business of reporting the news. It's television drama loosely based on actual (selected) events.
