Teach a 9 year old about world religions....and he'd know something about world religions. Teach a kindergarten kid the letters of the alphabet, and he'll learn the letters of the alphabet.

Sure, I’m just saying that 6th grade is their first dedicated look at it in a social studies class, per the state curriculum guide. They get some surface level stuff in elementary, but the emphasis there is more on math and ELA formthe state testing. Social studies plays second fiddle, unless a school has a really, really tight cross-curricular framework, AFAIK.
