The biggest weakness in US airpower right now is AIM-9X and AIM-120C, F-35 partners need to shift to MBDA Meteor and ASRAAM instead, at least until the US pulls its head out of its ass and comes out with some new AAM's. If/when the US comes out with the likes of CUDA, then the F-35 will be truly complete.

You're using the same missile designs from the 1950's, just upgraded, the US hasn't come out with a clean sheet new A2A missile in 57 years, it's time for some new DNA in the AAM blood. There's stuff ready to go in terms of clean sheet, JDRADM/SACM/CUDA, but by not developing it, the US is falling behind in the AAM department, the AAM's aren't keeping up with the 5Gen capabilites, need new AAM's to fully exploit 5Gen.

JDRADM merges the roles of the AIM-120 and AGM-88 into a single missile, with AIM-54 like range, SACM/CUDA merges the roles of the AIM-9X and AIM-120 for closer in, and is designed for internal carriage, so the F-35 could pack 12 of them into the bays, all have more accuracy, agility, and lethality than current AAM's.
