You're a year late. We're laughing at you.

The process just started. Two years to go for Brexit day,Fife wrote:BTW, everybody, and especially our UK cousins: Happy #BrexitDay
And uh... about something like 7 000 things to be renegotiated. Starting from things like what is the UK position in the EUROPOL to the farmer in North Ireland that has fields in his farm also on the Irish side of the border.
Let's start with 1,2 million British living in the EU and 3,2 million EU citizens living in the UK applying for work permits and visas. Bureaucrats will just love the work. Or just send them all a letter: "Go back to your own country, you aren't wellcome anymore!"
That would be the start everybody would want, eh? What's a net loss of two million people to being more British again?

You make that sound as if it's a bad thing? They could go to Finland? Improve your country just like they did Britain AND help you fight the Russians off.ssu wrote:What's a net loss of two million people to being more British again?

Theresa May has angered EU leaders by using British anti terrorism intel as a bargaining chip by threatening to withdraw the sharing of information if she doesn't get her way.ssu wrote:The process just started. The course of these negotiations will not run smoothly......
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

Re: Europe Boring Until it's Not
I assume they would go to their own country. Not many Finns live there in the UK, so it wouldn't be an influx. Likely they are professionals who would find work elsewhere. Actually one of my good friends and old schoolmate lives in London and is working for BP. If it would get complicated for him, no problem, the Norwegian Statoil has wanted him to go and work with them. And likely those expats are working, are skilled labour, they likely aren't retired pensioners as the weather sucks in the British Isles, so basically it's more likely a loss for UK.Martin Hash wrote:You make that sound as if it's a bad thing? Hence those 3,4 EU citizens are about 5% of the population. So just think what it does to the economy if for some reason 5% of the population aren't contributing to the economy anymore?
Likely it won't happen. But who knows just how they can fuck up things.

Yep. Fortunately enough Americans regretted that mistake with the last affirmative action hire that they chose not to elect Hillary Clinton and get us all killed in a nuclear holocaust.

Sounds like an upgrade in status for Trump among his haters if they start moving the goal posts in that direction. The next step is to get them to go from thinking "He might not be Hitler but he's clearly incompetent and doesn't get anything done" and move them to "okay he gets shit done and isn't a bumbling idiot but I still don't like what he's doing". The goalposts will shift in a more favorable direction as long as Trump holds up his end of the bargain, which is obviously no guarantee.
From Nuclear Hitler to Controversial Politician in three easy steps.

I come here for honest debate, not for yeah,-but-what-about-isms!
