That inmate, former police officer Nicholas Tartaglione who is accused of killing four men in a cocaine deal gone wrong, reportedly said he hadn't touched Epstein.

Tartaglione's attorney has since denied reports his client attacked Epstein and insisted that the pair got along well.

they've got one of the highest value sex trafficking criminals in the world and they leave him in a cell with a murderer? unacceptable, what the fuck? even if the two did get along and this was a ploy to get a transfer or something, who the fuck is responsible for that decision

This also could be his strategy to avoid getting assassinated as well. If he pretends to attempt a suicide, they have to put him on suicide watch. He may be betting (hoping) that the additional eyes and cameras on him if he is on suicide watch would make an assassination much more difficult.

I'd probably do the same thing if in that position. Give depositions to out the major players and keep that on file, distributed amongst several law firms and hopefully set up as a realistic threat of a dead man's switch. "Attempt" suicide to get as many cameras and eyes on me at all times as possible.
