It's not more sporting to let wrestlers keep their heads in a position to be kneed without having to pay for it or even be concerned that they are putting themselves in that kind of vulnerable spot, and all because of a stupid rule.

I can't think if any position from the ground that is any way advantageous that is vulnerable exclusively to knees. Don't need knees for a good ol fashion ground and pound.

Sprawl and Front headlock, hell it could even benefit wrestlers, they are great from both positions. You could land punches from there too, but they won't be anywhere near as effective as knees.

Those are advantageous to the person throwing the knees, but it isn't like you get on the ground and think 'I'll just let 'em get me in a headlock or side control cause he can't knee me in the face, so, no big deal.'

But again, I am not totally against knees to a grounded opponent, I just don't think they are a huge deal, and kind of boring to watch.

It makes the sport worse and it leads to more boring fights, due to more stalling in these positions.

Stalling is a perfectly valid strategy when you are very tired and have no idea what to do next because you are fighting someone who is stronger and more skilled.

Stalling doesn't win fights, getting the takedown while your opponent has less offense the whole round might, not the stalling. Or at least it shouldn't. Offense scores, stalling shouldn't, only shitty judges disagree. Stalling just slows down the inevitable and makes it boring, it is not a valid strategy, other maybe baiting shitty refs into standing the fight up if you stall on the ground, that's all it's good for, if you want back on the feet that is.
