Not so fast.

Except they had sold him the service already (the ring) and he was just there to pick it up, per the call to him.
Unless you're suggesting it's ok to sell someone something then refuse to give it to them until they conform to some new made up rule.

Pick the ring up in your own damn time.
Whilst on duty and in uniform do the job the public pays you to do.
Some unarmed black man is going gunshot while you are doing personal shit.

For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

Being on duty and being in uniform are two different things, not necessarily overlapping.
They have a right to do this, but it is stupid to forbid law-abiding gun carriers into your store, since they are not the people who will rob or shoot you. In fact, they help prevent attacks, and Kay just greatly increased their odds of being robbed because of this story.

Agreed. Not even "law abiding" gun carriers, but a cop who's *job* it is to enforce the law, probably on his lunch break but because he is still in uniform he's required to carry his weapon. Do they think a uniformed police officer is going to be holding them up at gunpoint? Perhaps they are worried how customers will react? I dunno, it I was a customer (at least a paying customer and not someone looking for a 5-finger discount) I would be more comfortable in jewelry store with an armed officer - far less likely to be robbed inside or outside (cop car in the lot) than anywhere else you might shop.Speaker to Animals wrote: ↑Thu Jun 06, 2019 5:01 pmBeing on duty and being in uniform are two different things, not necessarily overlapping.

That cannot possibly be the policy of Kay jewelers. They are a nationwide company.

There's an element of petty naming and shaming to that FB post, a fishing for sympathy. Why should the public even care that one employee of the sheriff's office couldn't pick up a ring?
Fame is not flattery. Respect is not agreement.
