English law lets you sue for defamation, regardless, but the truth is always a defense in America, thank god.

The US Courts have always ruled that this is not a Free Speech issue, using your employment as a platform for political purposes is illegal, and you can be fired for it. In Fact. The US Government has a law preventing Government Employees from doing just that. The Hatch Act of 1939, to Prevent Employees from Performing Pernicious Political Activities

Just remember, this isn't going away anytime soon. Long way from seeing the end result.

Best believe Shaun White and all his boys are having an emergency meeting to best capitalize

I don't know that I'll ever be into NASCAR, more an MMA guy. I've been a MMA fan when I happen to catch it.

Mostly this will be less of a distraction for me. Gives me more time to do some shooting, and work out.

NFL players aren't *technically* government employees.

Technically.

Both teams staying in the locker room in Seattle vs titans. Guess the coaches don't want the photo op of all the oppressed millionaires who are too downtrodden to simply stand during the anthem.

My little league coaches would of light your ass up for not doing the "good game" high five after a game, but this was before we realized the games were actually there for us to peacock about our politics. This was way back when there were expectations of the players to just play the game rather than educate the audience about their political views.

Yeah, the purpose of me pointing out the Hatch Act was to reinforce the long standing standard on political activism and employment in the US.

Agreed.

I think most of this is about social pressure. I applaud Villaneuava for standing up to the Lemmings. Just wish he would have walked out to the 50 yard line to do it.

Damn thing is, I agree that LEO engagement of civilians needs some serious reforms.

Strange day here, a church got shot up this morning just down the road from Nissan Stadium. I think that had an impact on how both teams decided to deal with all the hoo-rah.
