Ah, he's just a joker, he was never serious, he was just pumping the tires of the O'Leary Brand, I mean, he's a funny guy, he has some good lines, but he doesn't really want to be PM, for O'Leary, that would be a demotion.heydaralon wrote:How do you feel about Kevin O'Leary?Smitty-48 wrote:It's funny how much Trump and Trudeau have in common, because same thing happened here, conservatives and socialists told Canada they couldn't vote for the subsitute drama teacher; bam, same-same, same populist blather, just coming from the Left rather than the Right, same kind of Lightweight, just in a different package, same "dont tell us who we may or may not vote for" backlash, same lack of any substantive progress once in office.DrYouth wrote: ^^^^

Can't argue this at all.Smitty-48 wrote: It's funny how much Trump and Trudeau have in common, because same thing happened here, conservatives and socialists told Canada they couldn't vote for the subsitute drama teacher; bam, same-same, same populist blather, just coming from the Left rather than the Right, same kind of Lightweight, just in a different package, same "dont tell us who we may or may not vote for" backlash, same lack of any substantive progress once in office.
Only difference is that Trudeau is slick and not getting caught making goofball political moves to nearly the same extent.

Not so, Trudeau is making all sorts of goofball moves, he's just getting a soft touch from his buddies down at the CBC & Co instead of getting raked over the coals for it.DrYouth wrote:Can't argue this at all.Smitty-48 wrote: It's funny how much Trump and Trudeau have in common, because same thing happened here, conservatives and socialists told Canada they couldn't vote for the subsitute drama teacher; bam, same-same, same populist blather, just coming from the Left rather than the Right, same kind of Lightweight, just in a different package, same "dont tell us who we may or may not vote for" backlash, same lack of any substantive progress once in office.

The media is with the Liberals, they will do everything they can for as long as they can to insulate them.
For every idiotic RW populist move Trump makes, there is an equally idiotic LW populist move being made by the Liberals here, the only difference is the media is totally onside with Trudeau, but vehemently opposed to Trump.

When the Media clearly selects a side and always report through that perspective, it's called PropagandaStCapps wrote:This.Smitty-48 wrote:Not so, Trudeau is making all sorts of goofball moves, he's just getting a soft touch from his buddies down at the CBC & Co instead of getting raked over the coals for it.

Trump and Trudeau in fact often do exactly the same thing, with two totally different reactions from the media, one obseqious fawning, the other sputtering outrage.

Case in point, on trade; Trump and Trudeau are mirror images of each other, media reaction;
Trump; "Total neophyte, has no idea what he's doing, doesn't understand trade, going to damage the economeeeeeee!!!
Trudeau; "He's just standing up for Canada, atta boy, little fella, yay Trudeau, weeeeeeeeee!!!

You're right - the media defends Trudeau and hunts down Trump like a wounded animal.
Once again... we are agreed.
This hasn't happened for a while.

The media here has the added bonus of being able to blame Trump for everything in order to let Trudeau off the hook, this is the utility of Trump for the Liberals; "it's not us, it's Trump!", when in fact, they are exactly the same, doing the exact same shit, just the LW populist version of, give me a stupid RW populist policy which Trump has enacted, I'll give you the stupid LW populist equivalent which the Liberals are doing.

Was this a mistake on Trump's part?
Should he have charmed the media (which he could have done) rather than made war against them?
Or is this a brilliant Trump tactic?
