I don't see any reason to blame Obama, if Russia and Turkey want to dig themselves deeper into the Syrian rabbit hole, let them, there's no actual American strategic interests in play here, there's the humanitarian "ZOMG Sarin!" pixie dust in play, but that isn't actually an American Red Line and never was, go ahead and gas people, fill your boots, they're unpersons; nobody cares.ssu wrote:Deterrence with Russia having an ace in the pocket.
Turkey.
It's not only that the military situation is rahter good (for Russia), especially is so the political situation. And here the main blame is on Obama.

In a RealPolitik way, the rise of Russian influence is good, and the creation of a Red Pact is good for America. The EU, Australia, and other sundry countries have raised a generation of Millennials that hate America. Give them something to worry about. In fact, if they actually choose to side with Russia & China, then what was America doing trying to play nice with them in the first place?

China might need some growing room for their red lebensraum. Australia is as good as any place.

I have zero interest in saving them from an external threat while they are actively importing an internal one.Martin Hash wrote:In a RealPolitik way, the rise of Russian influence is good, and the creation of a Red Pact is good for America. Number of actual fucks given about Syria is zero, it's just more Red Team v. Blue Team v. Trump Team hysterical partisan bun fighting, another proxy non issue for dueling concern trolls to beat each other over the head with, but otherwise; nothing to see here, change channel, back to hockey, order pizza.Fife wrote:WAKE NEWSSmitty-48 wrote:I don't see any reason to blame Obama, if Russia and Turkey want to dig themselves deeper into the Syrian rabbit hole, let them, there's no actual American strategic interests in play here, there's the humanitarian "ZOMG Sarin!" pixie dust in play, but that isn't actually an American Red Line and never was, go ahead and gas people, fill your boots, they're unpersons; nobody cares.ssu wrote:Deterrence with Russia having an ace in the pocket.
