Does anyone think that the people who posted the original video somehow learned they were wrong?

It is possible that the folks over at MTV had never encountered the very simple arguments against them, and when they finally did, realized they were mistaken, and took down the video in good faith.

If that were only true, good god, it would make me almost proud to be a leftist again.

Who knows, maybe it really is a Christmas miracle.

Nobody was demanding they take it down that I know of. LOTS of people were criticizing the racism and hate on display.

Somebody at MTV realized they were huge hypocrites purveying hatred while decrying hate. So they took it down in their own interests. Frankly, it's in the right's interest to keep this video up.

Well, this is an assumption about their motivations that I don't believe is true...

It seems to me that they successfully stirred up shit, baited people into doubling down on their own bullshit identity politics, and then got to pretend to take the high road by removing the video after everyone who was triggered enough to give a shit had already seen it. All of the relevant culture war mongers on both sides got to write their 'think piece' editorials to generate clicks, and the Earth continued to spin.

But I swear to god, I really do hope you and Clubby are right about this. It would be wonderful if this was the a harbinger of the end of identity politics, because they are corrosive, no matter who engages in them; but I really doubt it.

They got exposed come to realization that it wasn't in thier best interest and retreated this a battle in a war that is just beginning.
