Don't know if I mentioned this. I was in the greater SeaQuartZ Area (Seattle zombie Quarantine Zone) the first week of December. I was fucking shocked at how high taxes were on every fucking thing.
I travel a lot on construction projects all over the country, so seeing high local taxes doesn't surprise me, but the fucking SeaQuartZ is worse than fucking Kalifornia.

Motherfucker. You and those phrases, dude. Yeah, the Greater Seattle Area is expensive as fuck. So not only do I regularly drop five figures on a yearly tax bill, but I also get to listen to my Florida dwelling sibling talk about how white, male, and privileged I am because I make barely enough money to be solidly middle class here.

I’ve tried to explain that Seattle is slightly more expensive than Largo, but when you’re being crucified for the crime of earning a living your prosecutors aren’t interested in the details.

Luckily I landed at SeaTac at 1615, so by the time I hit the road it was 5 O clock traffic running the Tacoma gauntlet.

Less than 70 miles and I checked into my room in Poulsbo after 8. Went to JJ fish house, ordered Fish N Chips, with tip $40, had one domestic beer. Food was good, the floor was fucking filthy.

I love good fish n chips, detest it poorly done. JJ's was good, but not great, definitely overpriced for what it was. I could handle that, except that the fucking place was filthy. Enough that I sat at the bar to check out the cooking surfaces. The kitchen was clean, the kid fixed it right in front of me and it passed muster. I'm OK with a place that's a bit of a dive, but are reasonable with food safety...…….. but I expect a dive price and the type of dive atmosphere that is fun.

What's Fish N Chips go for in a place like that in the UK ?

Oh, the grocery stores are little relief. I was there for 4 days. That meal at JJ's was the only one I ate at a regular restaurant. Did some 24 hr fasting, made my meals in the hotel room. When I think I'm getting ripped off, I'm as fucking cheap as a frugal, ethnically semitic person of Ashkenazi ancestry.

What's Fish N Chips go for in a place like that in the UK ?

I looked it up to be sure, as I don't eat fish, and with a beer you would get change from a tenner.
Even in a nice restaurant with medieval oak beams to bang your head on it wouldn't be more than £15.
You would have to be somewhere pretty swanky to pay $40 and anywhere that posh probably wouldn't do fish and chips anyway.
