China is unlikely to come to Pakistan's rescue, no need to incite the Indo-Japanese Alliance, that could drag America in, so the Chinese are likely to just stand pat here and watch the fur fly, then see who comes out on top, before deciding what to do.
Welcome back, gotta say I've missed your commentary. How've you been?

Pakistan and China are not really allies, Pakistan is a client, but only to China's interests.

When it is not in China's interests, China is likely to disavow them.

Moreover, in the view of China, both India and Pakistan are beneath them.

China is more likely to invoke itself as being above the fray.

As an United Nations Security Council Permanent Five Global Hegemon.

Why not invoke all the power at your disposal? No need to grubby yourselves up with the peons.

I think China could get involved because China and India are enemies, with their own contested borders, not because of Pakistan.

If India unloads their nukes on Pakistan, then China has a green light to advance.

While China still remains Americas inferior by far militarily, in all other respects, they are big time now.

Whereas India is a wannabe, and Pakistan is a nobody.

That being said, India is still a lethal cocktail of American French Russian and Israeli kit.

Employed by a highly professional military modeled on the British.

So Pakistan is fully defensive here, and by way of sea, Pakistan is surrounded.

Hence why that is the vector to nuclear deescalation, should India try to starve Pakistan into submission.

Which, in the event of Indian blockade, would onset very rapidly, starting with the Pakistani supply of oil.

When the oil gets cut off, the fur generally tends to fly then.

On the other hand, nuclear deescalation is a sound strategy, as in the event of Terrorist Hiroshima, the response is unlikely to be massive retaliation.

Theater thermonuclear wars may escalate laterally, but that is not baked into the cake, could just be full stop at the breach, because where are the Indians going to go with it? Not likely to Insensate Spasm by default, Herman Kahn.

Rather, if I was the Indians, I would play the Global Victim.

Thermonuclear Terrorist Hiroshima and Nagasaki upon us, from this abomination hurled at us in the east.

Where art thou, United Nations Security Council?

Righteous war of annihilation is mandated for this Nuclear Terrorist Beast.

Then there is your lateral escalation, Article 51 invoked in the face of state sponsored nuclear terrorism.

Then the Pentagon is on the clock.

Once the Pentagon is on the clock, cry havoc and unleash the Virginia's, because the primary counterstrike threat will be Pakistan's Agosta 90B submarines with nuclear cruise missiles.
