It’s okay to pay 15% for somebody to carry a hamburger over to your table, but 4% is too much for facilitating your budget.

Life in the cash economy for "underbanked" Americans

Anyone that uses check cashing stores and predatory in the same sentence is a disconnected idiot that reads circle jerk publications. The video was pretty on mark on their obvious analysis. A lot of people want their money now, they want all of it and they don't want overdraft and monthly fees.
My main problem with those places is how they sell personal information. Tracking people's financial habits and expenditures, and selling that data to third parties really needs to stop. It's not just them, but I think it mostly started with them.
Now we even have MasterCard sharing your purchase data with Amazon, who uses it to market shit to you, and who probably themselves packages it with their own data to sell to fourth parties.
Check cashing joints sell personal information to debt collectors and other shitty types of people in order to better harass poor people. That shit probably needs to stop.

Its a form of usury imo and needs to stop. But whatever we are all about making money in this country. Nothing binds this nation together. Not religion, race, or culture. Base motivations are what we have in common and that's about it.

Yeah, verily, the freedom of contract is base slavery. It "needs to stop."

Re: Late Cycle Capitalism
America has been founded on base motivations since 1789.
But even before then, the founding principles of the four major nations of America were cancerous to begin with. Puritan (Yankee and now "progressive") culture is evil and absolutely destructive of society. Deep South was based on the explicit exploitation of human beings as property. Appalachia was a fucking trainwreck of license and self-destruction. Midlands (Quakers) gave us the pathological altruism, although they were the least cancerous and evil of the founding nations.
Once you fused all that together, and forced capitalism upon the entire nation state in the 1860s, all you got out of that was the socially destructive self-interest of southerners and urban speculators combined with the radical statism and religious zeal of Puritanism.

"legal" manipulation and lack of knowledge should be applauded.

They should just not have access to the check cashing services they want? They don't want to go to banks, are you going to cash their checks? A flat fee of 4% for check cashing isn't usury anyway.GloryofGreece wrote: ↑Wed Sep 19, 2018 6:40 amIts a form of usury imo and needs to stop. Okie-dokie.
Not "late-cylcle," but ab initio; as in, all four folkways.
You should write a textbook for government (and parochial) schools with that theme. You'll clean up.

The whole fucking project was doomed because of it's founding principles.Fife wrote: ↑Wed Sep 19, 2018 7:23 amSpeaker to Animals wrote: ↑Wed Sep 19, 2018 6:50 amAmerica has been founded on base motivations since 1789.

Seriously ask yourself if you would want to live in *any* of the four original colonial nations of America. Personally, my choice is HARD PASS. But medieval England? Sure. If I had to choose between anywhere in colonial America or medieval England, medieval England would be fine.
You can catch me at the English bath houses.
Have a blast with your Puritan stockades or Carolinian Irish slavery or whatever other choice you made.

As long as you were a peasant, I'd be okay with that. Everybody thinking THEY are the elite is why America was founded. Here, everyone gets to be the center-of-the-universe.
