Snub-nosed .38 hammerless light carry revolver.
Rests almost invisibly in the front pocket of a sweatshirt.
No warning whatsoever.
If, god forbid, you're ever in a situation where you have to pull the trigger on another human being - let the first indication that you're packing heat be the bullet hitting them.
Former Green Beret clued me in on that.

Indeed, Charter Arms .357 Mag Pug, that would be a good choice.
Or you get crazy with it and go with the .44 Bulldog Blam!

Makes sense tactically, but not morally.DBTrek wrote:Snub-nosed .38 hammerless light carry revolver.

If somebody is invading your home, you have no moral obligation to "warn" them of a damned thing.

But the revolver is exponentially more practical for self protection, simpler and easier to use, and perfectly suited to someone who wants the option, but isn't going to train with nor shoot it much. You can't fuck it up, it's point and click.GrumpyCatFace wrote:Makes sense tactically, but not morally.DBTrek wrote:Snub-nosed .38 hammerless light carry revolver.

No, but I want to be very sure of who I'm shooting. If it turns out to be my kid's girlfriend or something, that tactical superiority isn't going to matter much in the fallout.Speaker to Animals wrote:If somebody is invading your home, you have no moral obligation to "warn" them of a damned thing.

That would depend on the guy pulling the trigger.GrumpyCatFace wrote:Makes sense tactically, but not morally.
If you'd gun someone down without warning who didn't pose the direst of threats to you or others, yeah, that would be immoral.
On the other hand, I'd suggest the morality of pointing and cycling a loaded shotgun at "some crackhead rifling through my stuff" is ambiguous at best.
You just ramped petty larceny up to deadly stakes with that.
In my scenario, assuming a "moral" gun owner, it's a life or death situation before the trigger is pulled on the gun no one knew you had.
All you did was end it decisively and with minimum collateral.

Revolver.
Can’t be to hyped-up/stressed/confused to know how to use it/ load it/ whatever, and generally more trigger resistance so you don’t misfire.
Though my bro swears by pump action shotgun for the noise.
The vast majority of home invaders will run from the idea of a confrontation.

Sliding the action on the shotgun does not actually constitute fair warning, rather, that is quite ambiguous, I wouldn't take that as warning, I would take that as a dumbass who is simply about to shoot me, but is bungling it, so I'm just going to roll and fire with my revolver at that.
If you want to give fair warning, be front sight on the target, from a position of cover, and shout your fair warning, and make it with a revolver, since you're not a shooter, so you need to go with point and click, no fuss no muss.

But if they don't run . . . you going to start shot-gunning your house to hell and back trying to nail dodgy figures diving through your dark rooms?nmoore63 wrote:Revolver.

Fuck that. I can't drywall for shit.
Not to mention there are other people in the house, behind that drywall.
...nothing against the 870. I'm a fan.
