Re: Fighting about real sports, hockey, IOC
Winning at snooker is an empty brag because snooker is lame sport, not because of your argument ad populum reasoning. Why you care so much about popular international sports is beyond me, it makes no sense, unless you're just a one world kumbaya faggot, that would explain it.Montegriffo wrote:England have qualified for the world cup 14 times. We didn't even enter a team till 1950 so we missed 3 world cups so that is 14 out of 17. Canada qualified once in 1986.StCapps wrote:Who cares about winning once, way back in the day, at a popular sport that suck balls? The English, that's who.Montegriffo wrote:Of course you do, hardly anyone plays ice hockey, come back at me when you win a team sport virtually every country on the planet plays.
Clinging to that one world cup they pulled out their ass in 66', you suck England, you fucking suck. If Germany was united in 66', or the West Germans didn't stink it up in extra time, you wouldn't even have that world cup, you ain't good, just admit it.
England dominates the world of snooker 47 titles out of 71 and no one outside of the UK has ever won it but like ice hockey only a handful of countries play snooker so it is an empty brag.
Come back at me when you dominate anything that can genuinely be called a WORLD cup.

Exactly, no brag at all, like winning an ice hockey tournament.Smitty-48 wrote:47 snooker titles! LOL!
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

Because every country in the world wants to win ''the'' world cup. Most people in the world have never even heard of ice hockey never mind played it.StCapps wrote:Why you care so much about popular international sports is beyond me, it makes no sense.

I don't brag about winning hockey tournaments, we're expected to win, winning it all in hockey is adequate, not winning it all, is simply unacceptable, that's how it is, when you are the undisputed masters of your own sport.Montegriffo wrote:Exactly, no brag at all, like winning an ice hockey tournament.Smitty-48 wrote:47 snooker titles! Saying we're the best at hockey isn't bragging, it's just a fact. Not winning, national catastrophe indeed. It would be no national catastrophe if the UK didn't win once at snooker, and rightly so, snooker ain't shit. If you knock Canada out of a major international hockey tournament, that's something worth bragging about.Smitty-48 wrote:I don't brag about winning hockey tournaments, we're expected to win, winning it all in hockey is adequate, not winning it all, is simply unacceptable, that's how it is, when you are the undisputed masters of your own sport.Montegriffo wrote:Exactly, no brag at all, like winning an ice hockey tournament.Smitty-48 wrote:47 snooker titles! Canada is a powerful contender in all sorts of Olympic sports, curling, speed skating, figure skating, bobsled, biathlon, etcetera, but we know, and everybody else knows, that none of that amounts to a hill o' beans, if we don't win the gold in hockey.
We don't disrespect our near peers, Team USA and Team Sweden are formidable opponents indeed, but they know, and we know, that they ain't done nothing, until they beat us, best on best for all the marbles.
That's what it is to be the kings. It's not a brag, it's just reality. We win it all, or we lose it all, there is no second place.

All other medals are completely irrelevant, aside from Women's Ice Hockey Gold. If Canada won every single medal in the Winter Olympics, except for Men's Ice Hockey Gold, best on best, that would be a national disaster.Smitty-48 wrote:Canada is a powerful contender in all sorts of Olympic sports, curling, speed skating, figure skating, bobsled, biathlon, etcetera, but we know, and everybody else knows, that none of that amounts to a hill o' beans, if we don't win the gold in hockey.
