Re: Statues
Why did Charlotteville rename the park where the statue was located to "Emancipation Park" from "Lee's Park"? Also, all the reports that I have heard was that the city voted to remove the statue.Okeefenokee wrote:You've got that bass ackwards, little sister.Penner wrote:But if the local government and/or local groups actually want it to take down any statues that are on public property why should people from outside demand that they don't?Okeefenokee wrote:

Re: Statues
https://www.washingtonpost.com/postever ... b2df43fa90Two Saturdays ago, my community witnessed an appalling nighttime demonstration by white nationalist Richard Spencer and his followers, complete with torches held aloft, in a frightening image that went around the world. They came to protest the recent decision by our City Council to remove and sell our statue of Confederate General Robert E. Lee, erected during the Jim Crow era.
I immediately released a statement saying that the rally took us “back to the days of the KKK” and that “intolerance is not welcome” in Charlottesville. I find their ideology and their methods repellent. And I believe that as a nation, in 2017, we still haven’t fully confronted our history of racism.

Well, I'm dragging my feet on violent protests, even if it's the in thing to do in these changing times. Sound like you're all on board with the intolerance and violence going on Penner.Penner wrote:I guess the time are just changing and some people are trying to drag their feet.
Neither do I. Just because I'm not for all this intolerance and violence doesn't make me a ConfederatePenner wrote: Look white culture to me isn't about the Confederacy and I don't identify as a Confederate nor do I hold any sympathize with them.
I'm glad you made the comparison to WWI and WWII. Why aren't these groups for tearing down statues of Woodrow Wilson or FDR, they were both a couple of huge racists.Penner wrote:If anything my culture would be the opposite as a Northern. During the last Century of Rome it was quite common for Senators to hire violent Mobs to force public opinion. Nothing new here. Has nothing to do with 'White Culture', it's about power.Penner wrote:So, overall, this isn't a sign that "white culture" is being eased and I would rather have more people identify white culture with people like the Greek/Roman philosophers, calculus, etc.... then Southern Confederates.

Ends justify the means. The Commies had it down pretty well too. The Russian Commies who wrote the first play book on prol mob work were great at it. First thing they did is neuter the Military and Police. Make a separate deal with standing security to stay out of the fight, STAND DOWN.Okeefenokee wrote:And Penner is all for that shit. Re: Statues
Rome had its violence and so did Greece. Those weren't 100% happy times but the Civil War all around was misery for everyone.Again, if a town wants to get rid of a statue that they first proposed in 1917 and finally completed in 1924then why do they have to stay?C-Mag wrote:Grass Roots assembly of Actors paid $25 and hour......... afterall, they need to do something with their liberal arts degreesPenner wrote:

Well, unless this isn't a conspiracy theory (like the whole idea that everything that the LEft does is Soros' funded) and I haven't heard once people actually being paid to do anything. If anything actions like Dylann Roof and James Field Jr is clearly making people turn away from the pro-statue side.
Penner wrote:I guess the time are just changing and some people are trying to drag their feet.If the local government voted to remove it why should people NOT from the town make the final decision on whether or not it should be removed? Was it built with money from outside the town; like from the state and/or around the nation? As with the violence, it was a member of the Alt-Right side that killed someone at the rally.Well, I'm dragging my feet on violent protests, even if it's the in thing to do in these changing times. The local government voted to remove the statue. Plain and simple. If they want to remove it then fine remove it, change the park's name, change a street name, etc... It is after all the local people's will.Neither do I. Just because I'm not for all this intolerance and violence doesn't make me a Confederate

I am trying to reply to his different quotes. Since he replied to me by breaking up my quotes and I am totally fucking up the format of it. So, I am just going to reply to his different points in green.
