2) The scripture that supports Purgatory was removed from the Protestant Bible, chiefly in Maccabees.

3) Yes indulgences are a valid concept, but most Protestants I have encounter really have no idea what that word actually means. They seem to think it means you can buy your way into Heaven. No. It's a form of penance meant to perform acts in this life to suffer somehow instead of suffering later in Purgatory. It's more like an incentive to become a saint. In the medieval period, very wealthy people could buy indulgences with financial sacrifices. Average people, just as today, achieved indulgences through penance and pilgrimages (like walking the Caimono de Santiago) or praying the rosary every day.

5) excommunication is for unrepentant sinners. A valid excommunication could be leveled against democratic senators and congressmen who vote for abortion, for example (and legally they are ex-communicated by default anyway, which is why there is a huge scandal about bishops allowing them to take communion) .
The purpose of excommunication is to shake some sense into people, not punishment. People are punished for terrible crimes by the secular authorities. We should set pedophiles on fire.

1) DSL touched on apostolic succession.
2) Yes purgatory exists, not a super knowledgeable. I believe it derives from the idea that Heaven is perfect, and people are clearly not perfect, so some form of perfection process is necessary.
3) You cannont buy your way to heaven. But the Catholic Church is not a "faith alone" institution.

4) I do not believe the Pope has God on speed dial. God could talk to anyone if God wanted to. The Pope is his primary conduit.
5) Even pedorapists can be saved.
6) The BIble has God given pronouncements that contradict previous God pronouncements. This is not a uniquely Catholic thing. But yes, a new Papal Bull would supercede a previous Papal Bull.
7) Yes. Understanding that the Pope is not infallible as a human. The Pope can sin. It is only in the Pope's official commands that a Catholic is Bound and he is infallible.

6) That gets complicated. Nobody can contradict God. If a Pope wishes to do so, as our current Marxist Pope obviously wishes he could do, then he would become an Apostate and not really the Pope. Further, Christ promised that the Church would be protected from error until the end of time. A Pope can make ridiculous opinions (and they have for many centuries, I might add, far worse than what we see with Pope Francis), but if he consents to guidance from the Holy Spirit, we do not believe he can error. The only way for him to do so is to willfully choose to defy God. But we were warned by the Mother of God that this is exactly what would happen at some point in the near future, so all the rad trads are waiting for the war to commence right now.
If it's just a bull, then he can contradict it. We can own crossbows now, for instance. Women don't have to wear head scarves to mass.

7) I think he probably is the real Pope. There exists some speculation that Pope Benedict abdicated his position via coercion. If that is true, then canon law states it was invalid, and therefore Pope Francis would not be the legitimate Pope. This also was hinted at by the Mother of God. But I am not sure if this is exactly what she was talking about. I really have no idea.
I do know shit is about to get real in the Church. The demon has infiltrated to the top.

In your opinion, who is the best pope of all time after the events of the Bible? I'm not talking about Peter, but those who came after him. In the last 100 years, who is your favorite pope?Speaker to Animals wrote: ↑Fri Oct 12, 2018 12:27 pmIt's literally in the Bible. Jesus made St. Peter the leader of the Apostles. In the Council of Jerusalem, he was the ultimate Earthly authority that presided over it. Even St. Paul deferred to him, though St. Paul was intellectually far superior to St. Peter. The Apostolic Succession also is clearly shown in Acts, with St. Barnabas being made an Apostle.heydaralon wrote: ↑Fri Oct 12, 2018 12:22 pmSpeaker to Animals wrote: ↑Fri Oct 12, 2018 6:05 am1) The primacy of St. Peter derives from the fact that Christ gave Peter authority over the other Apostles. Peter possessed the keys. Later in Acts during the first council St. Peter is clearly seen as the authority within the Church on this Earth. Bishops are all successors of the Apostles. The bishop who takes the bushopric of Rome is the successor of St. Peter (that was originally his office).
Thank you for the answer+biblical references. I would not claim to know more about the Bible than you, but from my religious background the idea of a pope seems unusual and possibly somewhat sinister.
When St. Barnabas died, the other Apostles replaced him with another, and so on, until today. A bishop is just a successor of the Apostles, and the Pope is just the successor of St. Peter.

But focusing on the Pope is kind of silly. You should focus on the saints.
