I’m all for people choosing to make fake jobs for gas pumpers if that’s what they want. Freedumb.
What I oppose is the helpless, dependent, oxygen thieves it creates as collateral within a single generation. People who will fight tooth and nail to never have to pump their own gas because it’s “too dangerous”, or ageist, or dangerous to children, or whatever bullshit scare/victim fantasy they peddle to derail the conversation. We can I’ll afford to become that useless in today’s world.
We owe it to ourselves to do better.

Re: Oregon: Pump Your Own Gas Crisis
I've been a Jersey resident for 20 years now, and as I've heard it the negotiation to repeal this stupidity here gets stalled when AAA insists that as part of the repeal gas stations reduce their prices (duh) but the gas co's refuse to agree.
It used to be fine as long as we had a super low gas tax, but Christie and every previous gov have made hash of our state finances, and raided the highway fund for other uses, so now to fill the fund they've raised the gas tax close to our neighboring states. Presumably some of the dozens of gas stations by the Holland Tunnel that serve people getting cheap gas as they head in will bite the dust.

We are only accustomed to dealing with like twenty online personas at a time so when we only have about ten people some people have to be strawmanned in order to advance our same relative go nowhere nonsense positions. -TheReal_ND

In the past say 10 years or so I've twice been inside the gas station when the guy at the register starts cursing, then looked to notice someone drove away from the pump... with the gas spigot in their car, ripping the hose off at the release joint (now I know why its there), one lady (of course) even drove away down the street with the hose hanging from her car, totally oblivious. (The attendant commented the cameras will have her licence plate). And I've showed up at stations several times where pumps were out of service because the hose was missing... I'm sure the same thing.
So yes, pumping your own gas can be dangerous... if you're an incompetent distracted moron. Unfortunately we seem to be producing a lot of those in recent years...

Pfft, it's not. Go to a college and look around, distracted idiots abound. We call them walking hood ornaments for a reason.Speaker to Animals wrote:That's just women, though.
