I mean, $200/sh, $80+ billion market cap, and a p/e of 190, on $13 billion in assets? Is that QE, or is that just Net Leftality?
What does Netflix even own? $8 billion in revenue, from what? They don't own the service, they don't own the content, if that's not rent seekers, what is?

It’s the explicit guarantee that stocks wouldn’t go down for the past 5 years. Theyspiked it up this morning so that it could “crash” down to flat.Smitty-48 wrote:I mean, $200/sh, $80+ billion market cap, and a p/e of 190, on $13 billion in assets? Is that QE, or is that just Net Leftality?

This week, it's NFLX. Thought the NN vote might have some effect, but I was wrong again. Silly me.

You shorted Netflix already? Jeez, you really are Mr. Short, Mauschvitz hasn't even taken the punch bowl away yet.GrumpyCatFace wrote:I am Mr. Short, and I've gotten my ass burned for 3 years now.Smitty-48 wrote:Oh, I thought you were Mr. Short. I shorted it last week, in anticipation of the FCC vote. Had no idea about the Disney deal.Smitty-48 wrote:You shorted Netflix already? Apparently, nothing continues to matter in the stock market.

The bulls are running, that's what matters, you are shorting a bull market. Wait until just before Disney launches that streaming service before you short Netflix, that's the smart play.GrumpyCatFace wrote:Apparently, nothing continues to matter in the stock market.

It would be, in a market that was traded by humans. You can't beat the algos in a race, so you have to be early, which is often wrong.StCapps wrote:The bulls are running, that's what matters, you are shorting a bull market. I don't think people are going to throw Netflix away, at least not overnight, if Disney charges $5/ month and Netflix is charging $12/month, the nerds will probably pay that, but into the future, Netflix is really going to have to up its game, in terms of content, you don't take Luke Skywalker down with indie films.
Netflix has got to go big, they need their own proprietary franchises. They need to find something else to mine, other than Star Wars, Star Trek, and Marvel Comics.

Thing is, I love Netflix. It's got more television than I'd ever want to watch. But that doesn't justify anything near the 100x pe, or being the 'top gainer' stock for 3 years running.Smitty-48 wrote:I don't think people are going to throw Netflix away, at least not overnight, if Disney charges $5/ month and Netflix is charging $12/month, the nerds will probably pay that, but into the future, Netflix is really going to have to up its game, in terms of content, you don't take Luke Skywalker down with indie films.
