The succession in Saudi-Arabia has gone from older Brother to younger Brother (where the father has been King Saud).

Now you have a king who wants his own son to succeed him. Brake away from the old tradition.

Hence a power struggle and the most classic reason for a purge in the Saudi family.

Corruption fighting? BULLSHIT!
Actually, it's a little more involved than that... I know one of the princes that are in the middle of all of this. (Yes my company has direct contact with the Saudi Princes)

What is basically happening, which is not being reported accurately, is that the old guard is being removed, the ones that have allowed ISIS and others to flourish. Their wants and needs to be put back by the wayside, in many ways, they are looking to revert in many ways back to before religion started to affect the way of life as it has today.

Women are getting their freedoms back, driving, not wearing the burkas, allowed to move freely without an escort... these things are all starting to happen slowly, but surely. Saudi Arabia is becoming what Qutar was meant to be... before they were cut off.

As the prince said to us, it's interesting times to be alive in Saudi Arabia. (as you said before)

And they are fighting corruption as well, those people that are openly being removed are token nods to the actions that are happening in the background. We see only a small part of what is going on, and right now we won't see the complete image ever... that is to stay internal, but with what is going on, the rest of the world is going to have to wait and see... if Saudi Arabia becomes what the prince promises, we may see a country worth visiting in a decade or less.

Especially if ISIS and Al'Queda have no power/toe hold in the country.

I have no idea what's going on either but this makes some sense, if true
Leaked Israeli Cable Confirms Israeli-Saudi Coordination To Provoke War
http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2017-11-0 ... on-lebanon

The classified embassy cable, written in Hebrew, constitutes the first formal evidence proving that the Saudis and Israelis are deliberately coordinating to escalate the situation in the Middle East.

The explosive classified Israeli cable reveals the following:

On Sunday, just after Lebanese PM Hariri's shocking resignation, Israel sent a cable to all of its embassies with the request that its diplomats do everything possible to ramp up diplomatic pressure against Hezbollah and Iran.
The cable urged support for Saudi Arabia's war against Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen.
The cable stressed that Iran was engaged in "regional subversion".
Israeli diplomats were urged to appeal to the "highest officials" within their host countries to attempt to expel Hezbollah from Lebanese government and politics.

The fact that Israel and Saudi Arabia are working together should say something... that is a good sign for things to come if true.

A war in the ME is a long time coming. There are too many factions and power players in the region to honestly keep the peace. If this is going to happen, and I expect it is, we are going to see modern warfare tactics with regional xenophobic tenacity, and old world enemy annihilation tactics.

If Iran is being backed by Russia, and Saudi being backed by the US by the support of Israel, there is going to be blood on many peoples hands those who are going to stand by being complacent, and those who are involved. We are going to see either the start of another cold war by proxy or the beginning of a larger "World Cold War" in where there are players in the middle east and the world invents on the sides they want to see win.

The winner will decide the future of the middle east and probably the shape of the world in a way by the distribution of resources and to whom they go to, or at least how affordable they become.

This could be a tipping point in a direction that many people don't see as of yet. Women's freedoms may be a small thing, but it will lead to a much bigger thing, especially if combatting ISIS, Iran and Qutar are involved... either with troops, cyber, or other means.

Thanks, Conservative! That was a thoughtful and educative response. Hope to see that kind of answers more often here.

I agree with your comments, but I think the most important thing is still the secession and the consolidation of power. Of course the old system cannot go on forever, that's for sure (as there is the time when the last child of the first king dies), yet once you start with reform, the question is then how much the ruling family is really willing to give away?

The Basic problem is that modern Saudi-Arabia has emerged from a pact of House of Saud and the house of Al Ash-Sheikh, the descendants of Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab. Hence Wahhabbism has been one cornerstone of the whole Saudi kingdom. One shouldn't underestimate that. Try to "reform" is like Hafez al Assad trying to "reform" Syria earlier after his dad died: how much can you "reform" and "democratize" when the religious majority of the country hates your family and your minority rule? Now the time before Wahhabbism is the time of the Kingdoms Hejaz and Nejd, and of course Ottoman rule/influence. How much there's a feeling of difference between the two (Hejaz & Nejd) nowdays I have totally no clue.

Abdullah bin Musa'ad bin Abdulaziz Al Saud is one of the Princes we have direct contact with. He is the minister of education for youth, our entire company is geared to give Saudi children an education (boys and girls) equally, as well as the adults to interact with different people and cultures. He is also in the cabinet that answers directly to the King of Saud, so he has the King's ear and knows how to play politics if need be.

As I said, things are happening in the background that isn't being reported, and as I said before the consolidation of power is to make sure the power can't be abused as it was in the past. Too many princes given free reign, the power is being given to a minority so that it can then be distributed without political or religious influences as it was in the past.

This also means more checks and balances, and with the freedoms, they are giving women slowly, it is in process testing the waters, seeing what needs to be changed so that things can go smoothly. Groups you will hear causing problems at first will either be incorporated or removed from the equation.

This house of Saud isn't the same house our parents grew up with... or what we have seen... this really is a new generation taking over, and bringing in many cases a lot of western ideas over. Hopefully the better ones, because the Middle East no matter how well Saudi Arabia does it right, if the rest of the countries around them don't see it the same way can cause a great deal of problems for the country. This is where I belive the "quiet" joint effort with Israel and the US may benift all.

Wouldn't it be strangely funny if the results of WWI which drew lines in the sands of the middle east ended up causing WWIII a hundred years later?
There is a time for good men to do bad things.

For fuck sake, 1984 is NOT an instruction manual!

Not really if you believe England did it to intentionally create conflict as some speculate.

Anyway it's not like it's Iran. They won't be able to go after Iran unless there is a really good excuse.
