That's just the business model now, gaming companies can make a lot more money without all the work of producing a new game. It sucks, but its analogous to paying to check baggage on airlines, its simply part of the profit structure now.

Those crates are part of the gaming experience, and any real gamer would happily pay whatever fee they ask for to unlock higher levels of gameplay. Kind of sad this needs to be explained to him...

The rules and laws are there already for gambling. This would give games with this type of transactions to be rated mature or 18+ because by then people are “adults” in theory.
