I've been seeing reports about this information to be released for the last year. What I've read is the CIA believes a release of this will make them look bad and they don't want that out.

I'm fine with releasing the docs.

It's going to say two things; they knew that Oswald was plotting the kill the President, and they didn't do anything about it, the CIA and FBI both.

No second shooter on the grassy knoll, just run o' the mill botched the hand off and failed to cover, same as 9-11, same as Pearl Harbor, same as it ever was, the IC as an early warning system; has never got the job done, who knew?

What are they trying to cover up? Their whole purpose is strategic warning, but they actually suck at it, and always have.

My guess is that the CIA and almost certainly the FBI knew that Oswald was up to something (he was actively investigated, after all) and did nothing to stop him. It will just highlight the same old incompetence we see today, really. Probably not even Earth-shattering news.
