The last time Obama tried in person he was booed, that is why one of the last ones he did was under 2 minutes and recorded... he didn't like being booed.pineapplemike wrote:Were the reports I read correct that the Boy Scouts were booing Obama and/or Hillary? Re: Trump soils the Boy Scouts
Why should it be surprising that there are partisan differences among Scouts and their families and that they would express them when given an opportunity? There should not have been any partisan provocations at such a non political event, just the words of encouragement and praise for the institution. Politicizing every aspect of our lives is not a good road to go down, officials representing the party rather than the country at public gatherings is more typical of non-democratic nations.pineapplemike wrote:Were the reports I read correct that the Boy Scouts were booing Obama and/or Hillary? We are only accustomed to dealing with like twenty online personas at a time so when we only have about ten people some people have to be strawmanned in order to advance our same relative go nowhere nonsense positions. -TheReal_ND

Lordy.
How many times can we remember Dems politicizing the boy scouts, a christian organization, in the past ten or so years?
The difference is, rather than supporting the scouts, Dems tend to trend towards coercing them to include boy fuckers on their camping trips.
But please, continue. This is hilarious. Tell us how NOW the scouts should be left out of politics.

We've already crossed the Rubicon of politicizing everything.
Think of how many graduation speeches have railed on Trump as of late, or alternatively had the graduating students throw a hissy fit at the speaker (Betsy DeVos).
It's the American M.O., now.

Christian? No, not in any reality, only in your mind. And the Liberals versus Scouts was only about trying to influence the scouts to be more inclusive, successfully I might add, not rally the scouts to their party.Okeefenokee wrote:Lordy.

Your ignorance also shows not knowing the elaborate systems and precautions the Scouts have created to prevent any situations of adults of either sex being alone with a child. My son teaching at Scout camp this summer couldn't share a tent with his best friend because he's 18 and his friend is still 17.

+1, it's unfortunate that Trump can't see the appeal in taking the high road over taking advantage of a political opportunity. Even if he was a little more subtle I could forgive him, but a wordsmith he ain't..brewster wrote:Why should it be surprising that there are partisan differences among Scouts and their families and that they would express them when given an opportunity? In both those cases it's private citizens expressing themselves, not an elected official in his official capacity. Putting party before country is definitely the road to the end of our democracy.Kazmyr wrote:We've already crossed the Rubicon of politicizing everything.

Fair point re: private citizens.brewster wrote: In both those cases it's private citizens expressing themselves, not an elected official in his official capacity. Putting party before country is definitely the road to the end of our democracy.
But even politicizing everything else is driving elected officials to do the same. It's the currency of the realm.
When was the last time that elected officials put country before party in an official capacity, and were, subsequently effective in doing so?
