Re: Women's March
So you say it's about more than the leaked audio. So let's say he is a pig. Where were all these women when Bill was being a pig? No one marched then. The problem with this is that their reasoning is so vague. "The man is a pig". Oh well, that makes marching and saying you want to blow up the White House totes clear and justifiable. I'm not seeing a clear message other than "Trump is racist, misogynistic, and evil". So what do the marchers want? What are they trying to accomplish?Kath wrote:It's more than pussy grabbing. The man is a pig... I didn't think that was in doubt? He may lead well; he may not. Being a diplomat is not necessary to be a good leader.

Obama had protesters. What did they want? I guess what all protesters want. their own way? I continue to be amused by those of you who have no idea why this new president isn't well respected by a large percentage of the country.
I don't see how Trump relates to Clinton. That was a whole different era. Besides, don't put ownership on me. I've considered Bill Clinton a power hungry womanizer since I first saw him on stage with Paul Tsongas, Jerry Brown, etc. when they were vying for the nomination in 1992. My opinion of him has never changed. I got to play the "toldyaso" card for quite some time when the Lewinsky thing went down. All the Clinton fan club were none too happy with me.
Anyway, I keep being my own person and people keep trying to pin opinions on me I do not have and I continue to laugh.

Protestors "protesting" Obama were burning effigies, and marching holding signs... agree or disagree with them, none of them burned limos, destroyed store fronts, and tore down trash cans to set afire...Kath wrote:Obama had protesters. Night and day... for "Liberals" vs "Conservatives"... I'd rather have Obama's protestors... they are more civil minded... hell, even before Obama was sworn in, the "Not my President" group destroyed their own property (via effigies).... only in one cases could I find it got out of control, and of course it was in a college... special snowflakes abound.

And they were all called racists simply because they didn't agree with a POTUS who happened to be (half) black.Kath wrote:Obama had protesters.
I understand why people don't like him. What isn't clear is what the protesters hope to gain. What's the plan? They had lots of slogans on signs. Maybe there isn't one other than to just get their tantrums out in the open.Kath wrote: I continue to be amused by those of you who have no idea why this new president isn't well respected by a large percentage of the country.

They aren't protesting a specific government action, like a new war or law. They are protesting Donald Trump, the electoral system that made it possible for his victory, and the people who thought that his words, actions, and opinions weren't disqualifying. Their message is "this is not ok, we have a problem".PartyOf5 wrote:I understand why people don't like him. What isn't clear is what the protesters hope to gain. What's the plan? I doubt I agree with them on much, but I think the electoral process is quite shitty as well. I would hope if Clinton had won, there would be millions of conservatives willing to march and say the same.
I am please to know that millions of Americans can still get their asses out on the street for some political activity. Better that, than if all of them just sat at their computers and tweeted #ThisSucks.

The Electoral did exactly what it was meant to... to keep the minority of states to control what the majority wanted.
