I think the burka thing is a slippery slope for religious tolerance and may have led to some of the alienation and resentment which causes atrocities in France.
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

To be fair that was just an attempt to trigger dear old Nuke although even he has claimed respect for certain aspects of their nation.

Possibly more economically viable to do it your way but the moral disadvantages of all that killing needs to be taken into consideration.
