my favorite desert town was Palmdale

used to sit at the diner with my pops, watching the jets take off and land

one time we're sitting in Palmdale at the fence to the airport

there's a sign which says do not take photographs of the airport

so my smart ass dad takes a picture of the sign

next thing you know, a blue Air Force police pickup truck pulls up, and two MP's jump out

they talk to my dad for awhile, he hands them the camera, they take the film out

then they say have nice a day and drove away

my dad said they only asked for the film, they didn't demand it

when he invoked the first amendment, they said we can call the FBI if you want

so he said no thanks, and handed the film over

we used to drive to the desert through the foothills out of LA

where the road signs are shot full of bullet holes and you see the chain gangs working on the side of the road

you don't see that in Canada, lulz
