I probably will give it a listen. From my understanding, Duncan is a leftist, so it will be interesting if he covers the 15 million who died in the Civil War, and Lenin and Trotsky's role in that. If he plays that: Lenin was the good guy it was Stalin who perverted it crap then I will know he is not serious.
Most Academics are Lefties, so it wouldn't be a surprise. I'll listen, listened to 10.0 already. Let's see if he makes excuses for mass killings. Sadly he's steering clear of the Stalin era, Holodomar, Kulaks and Gulags.

What's his criteria for what makes up a " revolution"?

How long it takes the engine's crankshaft to make one full rotation, and how many times the piston goes up and down inside the cylinder.

10.2: The Adventures of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels.

Duncan is weaving the threads together like a master.

For any of you who haven't been following his series... the Paris Commune episodes were epic.
This was a chapter of the 1848 series that came at the very end.

In this episode we see the origin story of Karl Marx and his sidekick Engels.
Marx comes from a Jewish family that converts to Protestantism.
He switches universities and ends up studying Hegelian philosophy after getting in trouble for drinking and brawling.
He moves around from Cologne to Paris to Brussels to London... all of the settings well illustrated in Duncan's previous narratives.

Engels is the liberal child of capitalist parents who rebels against his rich folks after being sent to Manchester and falling in love with a working class girl.

After Marx and Engels fail in their revolutionary exploits in the crushed revolutions of 1848 Engels goes back to his rich folks with cap in hand, they forgive him and he writes cheques to Marx to keep fomenting his revolutionary ideals.... scribbling notes in a London public library and finally producing Das Kapital... all the while alienating everyone with his grumpy temper... and his sons die.

Crazy story.

The way he's kept a common thread going through this chronology is the absolute work of a master

Liberals , Communist , etc. In essence are the same . They want to take what they think they deserve and act like it's for others or just. The ancient regime took taxes and so do the liberal ones.

The Revolutions series helps flesh out all the camps of the left... from the liberal noble to the professional revolutionary and everyone in between...

Start listening.

He's just starting the Russian Revolution series now.
He has discussed Proudon at least in previous series.
Not sure about the others.
