He was always more of a libertarian.

Libertarians for the most part aren't down with Trump.

But as a rule they have nothing much interesting to say about his movement.

Trump is about wanting a cohesive us... or as Smitty would say some comfortable national socialism... (I miss that guy.)
But we don't have a clue what "us" means.
The enlightenment project has so completely eroded the "us" that it is a long road back to some kind of tribe.
We long for this thing we used to belong to... and we're pretty much ready to just make something up.

Don’t know any libertarians that peddle the “nuclear Hitler” narrative, or buy the “Russia stole the election” nonsense, or hailed our intervention in Libya as a “necessary evil”, or compared allied pilots of WW2 to Nazis ... but ok. I’ll just assume that even the MHF progressives don’t want DC associated with their camp.

Dan is more libertarianish. I still don't get the whole 'nuclear Hitler', he's flat out said he doesn't think Trump is the next Hitler. Dan has been always been worried about presidents that wield too much military power, especially regarding nuclear weapons. Even in the Obama days, he kept saying something like, just wait until a president you don't like gets that power. And Dan doesn't like populist firebrands, which Trump clearly is.

Anyway, I know nobody here reads his sub on reddit, but every once in a while I'll check it out, but whats funny is they seem to think the opposite. They think Dan is a sellout to the alt right and is scared of offending his Trump supporters. Mostly I think Dan is now worried about our cultural ungluing and how rapidly it happened and that's what his last few shows have been about. Personally, I think its a huge issue. I'm not guiltless. I admit that mostly what I enjoy about Trump is how he's pissed off the people that drive me nuts, but I recognize that doesn't help our country. It just divides us further. Speaking of Trump, I think if he would have had way more support if he'd just not said a few of his most inflammatory statements. There are maybe less than a dozen things that he's said that have probably turned off millions.
