Taleb: Black Swans And Interventionistas ... P vs. NP, &c

Post by Fife » Sat May 20, 2017 11:55 am

A lot of you, maybe most all of you, are at least familiar with Nassim Taleb.

Whether you have never heard of him, or have read everything he's written, I think many of you will enjoy this. Plus, I just couldn't pass up sharing his take from yesterday's Ron Paul podcast on current events.

Mostly through it. Ron Paul is a moron, but some good points being made by Taleb.

I read the Black Swan. Its been awhile, but he talks about fractals, uncertainty and all kinds of crazy stuff. Really interesting thinker. I heard antifragile sucked though

I'm not a Taleb fan: his conclusions are long-winded, forced & obvious.

I like the guy, but he is a bit too far up his own ass. He made a note of talking about how many people who got awards did not deserve them, and how he was smarter than everyone else. His interviews also are a bit insufferable. That being said, I think he serves as a good counterbalance to self important economists who pretend their models are a crystal ball. On one side of the coin you have the smug dipshits like Robert Rubin, Larry Summers, and Alan Greenspan, and on the other you have the smug dipshit Taleb. My money is on Taleb being right, because in spite of his ego he understands Murphy's Law.

Well said. OK, I'll give Taleb points for being wiser than economists in general.
