Oswald Spengler much? Cycles etc. Entropy alone if a mother fucker. But alas there are exceptions. Some things last a really really long time. And somethings change around the edges but still go on.StCapps wrote:The last really good Common Sense, was 46 episodes ago, the podcast has fallen off folks, it's as plain as day.
CS had it, then it lost it, and now the show can't hack it anymore. That's just the way she goes, in all walks of life, this phenomenon is hardly unique to Dan Carlin. Do any show, in any medium, for long enough, and eventually it will fall off, you can't keep a good thing going forever, without a dip in quality being the eventual result.
Name one show that has lasted over a decade, and still maintained the high quality it was known for, throughout it's entire run. I can't think of a single show, in any medium, that accomplished that feat.

The exceptions are few and far between, especially when it comes to episodic entertainment. It's impossible to avoid the trap, if you keep something going long enough, it's bound to happen at some point.GloryofGreece wrote:Oswald Spengler much? Cycles etc. Entropy alone if a mother fucker. Thats the point...it varies. Yes it ends but when well that varies/StCapps wrote:The exceptions are few and far between, especially when it comes to episodic entertainment. That's true, but when it comes to episodic content, even the best shows rarely have more than a decade in them, give or take a couple years, and then even they fall prey to it, if they haven't already.GloryofGreece wrote:Thats the point...it varies. So when considering Common Sense, in that light, it's not that surprising to see a decline, around the decade mark, give or take a couple of years, that's to be expected.
